Bonnie Graves takes me right back to grade school years and the joys and pain of early friendships. I like the way Lucy remains true to herself. And the details are great. I can almost taste that bubble gum. I think kids and their parents will enjoy this book.

Another Cute Biscuit Book!

Review Date: 2007-01-29
Biscuit's girl needs to take something to school for show and share day. While she tries to decide what to take, Biscuit comes up with his own idea. Off to school!

In another cute Biscuit book, preschool children will delight in the puppy's antics as the little girl looks for something to show her class. Delightful illustrations and a simple storyline make this a great choice for youngsters. The only snag is that the little girl takes Biscuit to school on the bus. What a sweet, idyllic moment, but watch out for children who take this to heart--they might try to take their pets to school!

There are six activity pages at the end of this book. They range from supremely easy for the younger children to mildly challenging for beginning readers (a word find). This is a nice addition.

Biscuit fans will enjoy this new installment, and parents are likely to walk away with a warm feeling as well.

Teaches So Much More Than Just Numbers
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2006-12-05
"Blue's First 100 Days of School" is a larger and longer than your average "Blue's Clues" book, but it teaches so much more as well. This may truly be the best book in the series to date --- this book really teaches a bit of everything.

This book is structured around the idea of Blue and her friends learning to count to the number one hundred. It's a concept that's pretty popular among this type of children's program lately --- "Higglytown Heroes" and "JoJo's Circus" have both done it. But after reading this, I think "Blue's Clues" ran circles around them all.

Miss Marigold, the teacher at Blue's school, announces on the first day of school that they're going to learn to count to one-hundred. Each day, they find an example of something that matches the number for that day. For example, they learn the days of the week, the number of days in particular months, that there are sixty seconds in a minute and so much more!

This is a good read-aloud story, as the text is probably a bit too complex for the program's target-audience. This book really teaches a lot and it's packed with eye-catching illustrations as well. Strongly recommended.

This book is wonderful: its like 4 books in one. It is a:
1) Textbook on how to change Your life for the better.
2) Textbook on relationships and how to choose a mate.
3) Textbook on "The Signs of The Times" and how to put them to work for You. Giving You lessons on how to calculate Your best Months, days, years and hours for doing everything (like getting married for example)
4) An autoboigraphy of the author.

Every household should have one on thier coffee table or bookshelf.

Excellent Miss Spider Adaptation

"A Cloudy Day in Sunny Patch" is another wonderful "Miss Spider" television story released as a book.Written and illustrated by David Kirk, this an excellent adapation of the original story by Steven Sullivan.

In this story, Shimmer, Miss Spider's adopted jewel-beetle is eager to celebrate her eighth hatch-day. Since she was adopted and had been an orphan, she's never had an exciting hatch-day party before. So her friends and family go all-out, but then rain threatens to spoil the party. Shimmer learns an important lesson about making the best of a bad situation.

The illustrations are bright and fun, just like on the TV show. The text is good for beginning readers. This is a nice story for all "Miss Spider" fans.

Corduroy books are my daughter's (15 mo) favorites and this one is no exception. She still wants me to read it to her everyday even though the "snow days" are over for the year. The size is great for a toddler and the story is just the right length.
