My son loves these books! They make him laugh. I have purchased all of the Ready Freddy Books published so far and will continue to do so. He is 8 years old and they seem like the reading level is made for children his age.

My 2nd grade son loves all of the Ready Freddy! books. The stories really speak to him. Super Secret Valentine was one I thought he might turn his nose up at because of the subject matter, but that was not the case at all. He was more interested in this one than some of the others. We also love Junie B. Jones & Magic Treehouse.

Is your little one worried about a new situation? Making a transition?
Entering a new school or grade?

Meet Tucker.

Learn how Tucker manges to have a 4 carrot school day. Of course he gets some extra help from Mama and baby sister. I love this book. I love Susan's art work and get lost in all her down home details.

My daugther enters kindergarten in less than a week. We've been reading Tucker all summer long.

this is a fantastic story for any little one a bit nervous about heading off to school (or away from mommy & daddy for the first time). tucker the rabbit goes off to school, leaving his stuffed dog and baby sister, tulip, behind. while at school, he embarrasses himself by dropping bottles of paint and continuing to sing when everyone else has stopped. his teacher, miss blossom, takes care of him along the way, and tucker manages to make some new friends. in the end, he has a "4-carrot" day and can't wait to go back to school the next day.

we LOVE this book (and not just because our son is named tucker!)--the scenarios are quite real for little people and the message is warm and fuzzy. the pictures are adorable as well.

highly recommended!!

My son loves Valentines and we have gotten totally off track with holidays so we are reading the books as we get to them. This picture book is about 2 "kids" bringing Valentine joy to their neighbors. I thought it was a sweet book and my 8-year-old son loves bunnies. Recommended for preschool - 2nd grade.

Library Must Have

I purchased this book for our library because most of the books describing Valentine's Day are boring, outdated and worn. This fresh perspective includes facts, plus gives you ideas on how to make your own valentines. To me, it is "killing two birds with one stone," but really three birds when you think how much you have enjoyed the story and illustrations!

My first grade daughter read this book to herself and laughed at the ending. Most books at her reading level have no real story line. Finally, a book that not only gives her practice, but also brings her a little joy. Thanks!

A super book

It's a great story and she loved it!

Barbara H. Cole - Literary Genius

Barbara H. Cole is currently my British Literature Professor here in North Carolina at my College of choice. I have read Wash Day, and I think it is absolutely fabulous. Mrs. Cole is a wonderful weaver of tales, and I know from experience as she often tells us stories of her own childhood during class after we've read a fantastic story such as Gawain and the Green Knight, or Beowulf, or Hamlet. I highly recommend anything that you see written by her, as anything she has to say is always the most enjoyable.

A very highly recommended children's picturebook

Set during the hard times of the Great Depression, Wash Day is a very highly recommended children's picturebook written by Barbara H. Cole and illustrated by Ronald Himler that tells of a Grandfather who entertains children during laundry day by telling them stories of the war he served in and playing his trumpet, encouraging them to march in time and sing along to the music. Fond memories, friendships that transcend race, and the simple pleasures of life growing up abound in this tale to be treasured.

Dawn survives

Dawn has just arrived in stoneybrook . Everyone who's moved from a place which they once idolised will really relate to this book. Compared to previous aby sitters club books I really enjoyed this one because it is really realistic. It shows the changes over time , the reall feeelings. Dawn is my favourite babby sitter. It's funny how Dawn has just moved to stoneybrook and dealt with so many things. She made new friends and is on to her next challenge. Her baby sitting charges. Her 3 impossible baby sitting charges. When one of her charges gets kidnapped the whole of stoneybrook is in search. Dawn in the end as always survives. Dawn is a real survivor. I don't think people give her enough credit for standing up to what she believes in.

This third in the Baby Sitters Club (BSC) series of graphic novels is my favorite so far. Raina's drawings seem more detailed and lively in each successive book. I've been buying the BSC graphic novels for my niece who is finding real inspiration in the artwork while simply enjoying Ann Martin's time-honored stories, and I heartily recommend this series both for the clean, yet engaging stories, as well as the excellent graphics. Especially recommended for girls who are reluctant readers, because graphic novels are many times a great introduction to storytelling in book form.

I got a copy of this book and gave it to my daughter in May. She wasn't interested in it at all. Then, 3 weeks ago, we came back from vacation in Maine, and she searched through ALL of her books to find it (she's almost 3). Now, we have to read it every night. I don't know whether the ocean theme inspired her, but she really enjoys it. The story of a young boy bear not quite sure that he is ready for school is one that many kids can relate to. My little one had much separation anxiety when she first started. Now, she can read this book and look back on those times from a new perspective. The illustrations are charming - who wouldn't want to live on Nantucket? It's a very empowering message to give young kids. School, like other hings in life, isn't easy to get used to, but you can with the support of those around you. My only gripe is that the friend Barnaby makes is just like him, but female - a little diversity would have been welcome. Another gripe - we need more Barnaby books! The author needs to get some new ones done (easier said than done, I am sure ;-) ) and the older ones need to come back into print. Here's to my little one's newest friend - Barnaby!
