This book was recommended to me by a classmate and it should be read by everyone; the title says it all. Man's inhumanity to man, human frailty and even some humor. It's a book to make you think. Product-wise, the book was received in a timely fashion and in good condition.
One of my favorite true stories of all times!

This book is amazing. I love biographies and autobiographies and this is definitely one of my favorites. I got the chance to meet the authors and they are very genuine guys, with a desire to tell their story to encourage others. I have given this book as a gift many times because I think everyone should hear their story.

This is one of the most moving books I have read in a long time and I read every day. It's a modern day story of faith, trust and obedience in what God has called them to do. As you share their journey you will laugh and you will cry. Most of all it is a true story to take deep into your heart.

One of the most compelling books I've read. The doubts and fears of Ron Hall are raw, humorous and convicting. Denver's life in US slavery and his later friendship with Hall and his wife are true evidences of the redemption on Jesus Christ. A real roller-coaster ride of emotions! A must read!

I borrowed this book from a friend around lunch and by bedtime, I had it read. It's that compelling. I wanted to know what happened to the people I met in the first several chapters. It has enriched my life and caused me to think outside my little world. The best thing I have to say about this book is that many people I know who have read it, have done something about it. It caused them to get out and do something to help other people.

My title review is SO!!!! true. Although this book does put ALOT of pressure on Amy it's the best EVER!!!!. Romantically speaking Amy,Ty,Ben and Soraya were all invited to the Grant's every year christmas party that is the most popular.Ashley Grant only invites them because she likes Ben and because she knows that Ben won't go without them.During that party Matt tries to make a move on Amy since he likes her but she automatically backs off and repeats the message that she only wants to be friends then AMY and Ty get alone on the dance floor and ty sends the message that he in turn likes Amy. At the end the second last page of that lovely book is when finally ty KISSES amy and she is so shocked and confused because she has looked at him as a brother all her life and is afraid that the relationship they had before ty had feelings for her might change and so asks him to give her some more time. And also in other parts grandpa gets pneumonia and gets terribly sick and Lou travels to England in search of her father because of her desperate need to contact him.
I LOVE HEARTLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This book was AWESOME!!! Ashley invites Matt, Soraya, Ben, Amy and Ty to her christmas party becuase Ashley likes Ben. Matt tries to have Amy as a girlfriend but Amy just wants to be friends. Jack gets sick and it's sad but he gets better. Lou went to England to find their dad. The part I loved the most was when Ty and Amy KISSED in the end. I read it over and over again. They do go out in other books(#10). They make a perfect couple!

I discovered this book series in dec. 04' I bought the vol. 1 edition(and saved tons of money by doing so I recomed doing that)and LOVED it I read all 3 of the books in vol.1 in 3 days!
If that gives you any idea of how additing it can be! It made me cry when pegaus died:( Well anyhow I bought vol. 2 just the other day and have now finished the book! "one day you'll know" is the best one yet! Now I know how the web sites say ages 8-12
well im 13 and I think it just a little bit to "invloved" with the kissing and all(which was really cool I read it over and over agin)for 8&9 year olds no offense to you at all. The party at the Grant's was one of the best parts esepally when Matt tryed to make a move on Amy but she said they were only friends. than Amy danced with Ty (who really hot on the cover! I dont see why amy didn't like him before!)and Matt got mad and started dating Ashley(that was mean!). Then Jack got sick and lue went to londen and Daybreak being stubern and got sick too!
the drama never ends! But thats why Im so hooked! and as a final note read this sereies from the begining even though every book fills you in you miss a lot of drama! This series sould never end well I dont want it to be like the throghbred books there bad and they just keep comen' there's like 82 of them! After you finish heartland I suggest you read the phamtom stallion books there good too! But heartland will alway be the best ever!!!!!!!!!!

When I was a child my father went to Vietnam. My father sent this book to my mother as a gift. I always read it when I was a child. My father signed the book for my mother when he was overseas. It was a book my mother treasured. Well I'm grown up now and this book is a part of my heart. When I first met my husband I bought this book for him on Sweetest Day. I always told him "I like you." and I got many phrases from this book. He couldn't figure it out until I bought the book and now he treasures it. It is such a wonderful book. Friends or Lovers. I so recommend it and it will be a part of my life!! Please enjoy this book no matter who you are!!

We borrowed this book from the library after we read a couple of the Fudge books that we had on the shelf at home. I was surprised that the text now refers to a CD player and personal computers used by children, even though neither existed at the time the book was written. I found the changes jarring and wondered what else had been changed in the book that wasn't so obvious.
As an adult, I was disturbed by how casually the subject of friends being mean (or at least brutally honest) to one another is treated in the book. I don't remember it bothering me when I first read the book, though, some 30 years ago, and it didn't seem to bother my daughter when we read it, though we did stop to discuss how the friends could have been more kind.

I read this book to my second grade class, and they thoroughly enjoyed it. I have always preferred Beverly Cleary, but this book may be winning me back to the ranks of Blume.
Sheila is a very funny protaganist. Her constant desire to be popular, adored and liked by everyone fit in perfect with the children. That's exactly the way the kids here at this school work. The book was very funny, I loved the sleepover where the girls secretly shared their opinions of each other. The class laughed and laughed.
I loved that not every question was answered. The book left you to figure out the next chapter. Very nice story, perfect for "summer" reading.

My daughter is supposed to be reading chapter books but she can't get into them so doesn't finish them. On our last library visit, I asked for help from the librarian. She said, "She just hasn't found the right book yet." This was one of the 'books' she suggested because it was audio. "Judy Blume is great and this should help spark her interest." So we got it. Well, not only did it spark her interest, it sparked mine as well! We enjoyed listening to it together in the car and even at home. One of the things I enjoy most about it is it stays centered around Sheila's thoughts/point of view and it is very entertaining and funny. The slumber party on disc three made us laugh hysterically. I never thought I'd ever try audio books but this was a great idea and now my daughter is checking out chapter books and reading them, thanks to this!
BOTTOM LINE: If you have a reluctant reader, get this fun, entertaining audio book and see if it doesn't spark your child's interest in reading!

This picture book is my favorite for Valentine's Day. Mr. Hatch is a lonely, friendless man, until he receives a present from a secret admirer. Then, he blooms, contributing greatly to his community. The people in his neighborhood in turn support him as well, showing him how much he means to them. It is a lovely story about being a good friend, especially on Valentine's Day.

The youthful adventures of the ever-sensible Frog and his seemingly naïve companion Toad demonstrate important qualities of lasting friendship. This dynamic duo cleans a house, flies a kite, shares ghost stories, celebrates a birthday gift, and even discovers benefits to being alone on occasion. In each of the five vignettes there is a unique balance between the elements of repetition and surprise. Also remarkable about this book is Lobel's one-of-a-kind illustrations. Each green and brown image brilliantly depicts action which serves as a cue for early readers. The simplicity of the drawings allows readers to focus on the text while enjoying the illustrations. In addition to the close match of images to words, the large print, short chapters, and overall themes of the book lend themselves to younger children ages five to eight. While Frog and Toad have many dissimilar characteristics, their differences do not get in the way of their close friendship and their love for each other. Lobel's masterpiece leaves children with several new lessons while remaining exceptionally entertaining.

I've bought several of the Frog and Toad books for my grandson (who is now six) and we loved them all, this one included. They are delightful and refreshing. There is a lesson in every book, and my grandson never loses interest in hearing the stories. One of the characters is a pessimist, the other an optimist, and I think this causes children to really think about life, and consider looking at life as the glass being half FULL! Frog and Toad really rock!

My daughter's nursery is decked out in Frogs, so the discovery of these books made them books we had to consider. They are fun and the illustrations are grest. At eleven months she is too young to read them herself, but we read them to her - and she enjoys them. The stories are simple with a central theme - do good for others, treat your friends with respect, help your firends when they need help, laugh, and aporach life with adventure. These are great virtues to instill in young minds. If the books were made in cardboard stock, Teah would be even more happy with them - as it is she frequently grabs one of them when it's time for her bedtime story - and great bedtime stories they are. By the time she starts to read she will know the stories by heart, but that's ok - fond memeories of bedtime stories like these should help her build a lifelong interest in reading on her own.

The Day of the Iguana tells the story of a fourth grader named Hank Zipzer and his sister's iguana. Science projects are coming due for Hank, so he has to find a project and fast. He gets the idea to take apart his cable box and see what's inside. Wha he didn't count on is his sister Emily's iguaua laying 23 eggs.
This book gives you a look at a boy called Hank Zipzer and how he gets through a few months of fourth grade with his best friend Frankie and his sister Emily and her iguana Catharine. The story starts in the beautiful modern city of New York. Hank has to put on a magic show for his twin cousins and promises Frankie to tape a monster movie when there doing the show but he accidentally presses the wrong button and tapes something else. Hank feels so guilty that he decides to take apart a cable box and see if he can prevent that from happening in the future. My favorite part in the book is when the baby iguanas are born. They are so cute. I recommend this book to children and family because it is about honor and trust. It is a great book and teaches kids that iguana birth can make a big change to your life. It also teaches you how to be a great friend.

The way I see it, any book that can keep a 10 year old boy away from his video games, gets 5 stars and then some. "Day of the Iguana" and the other eight books will do for boys what "The Babysitters Club" did for girls. I've been waiting a long time for something boys can relate to other than "Yu Gi Oh" comic books and "Captain Underpants." Henry Winkler has done that with Hank Zipzer and his friends, he's made reading fun for boys. You can count on Hank getting himself in a situation that would be best handled being straightforward and you can count on him going out of his way being anything but. The best part is watching you kid choose Hank over the TV. Parents all over will understand just what an accomplishment that is.

Samantha, Rebecca's best friend, just suggested they play a game called "Seven Minutes in Heaven", a truth or dare game were the girls ask the boy a question where they can either tell the truth or go in the closet and be in heaven. The problem is, Rebecca's not really sure she wants to play because its going to be her first kiss. The real problem is yet to come when the school principal tells them that they are going to learn how to dance the tango and all that stuff. Everybody in class doesn't want Rebecca as their partner because of the last dance, where Rebecca accidentally broke Scott's toe and was called "Killer Dancer". So is Rebecca brave enough to dance and be have romance at the same time?
I would rate this story 4 stars because it's just a story I enjoy to read with romance, and friendship. I can also relate this to my life and I'm sure it will relate to your life also.

This book I just read was so exciting! It's about a girl who is growing up and getting older and she decides to have a party. Well, at the party she wants to play some games. One of the girls at her party says, " Let's play spin the bottle". Another girl suggests that they play seven minutes in heaven. Well, the main character, Andrea, said she hadn't heard of any of those games. This was really a great read for me.
I thought the book was really fun to read. I found some things that I didn't already know. For example, I never knew what seven minutes in heaven was until I read this book. I thought some of the things in the book were too descriptive. When I was reading the book, I kept on thinking, "Why are these girls going to have a party?" "Do their parents know they are having a party?" Of course, my questions never really got answered. What I liked least about the main character is that she acted like she knew nothing. I really loved this book, and I think you will too!

Aw. I love love stories, especially when they're innocent. Some of the sentences feel a little too simple. At the same time, the author cleverly does not underestimate her readers' intelligent by not putting the obvious in sentences, if you know what I mean.
The only issue I have here is the use of word "jackass." But I've learned that it apparently is an acceptable word for middle school kids--having found it in three juvenile books in a week.

An awsome book about 7th graders. The whole breaking his toe thing is really funny!! it took me less than a day to read becuase I coundn't stop. I even was reading it in history class :) I have already given the book to my friend and she lovesd it too. I think that this would be a great book for book lovers (like me) to read.
Maybe it's not as well know as Harry Potter..

Rule #1- Dont stick a spatula down your best freind's throught.
Why not? I could cause serius crying from a person like Mary Kay, and could make you loose your best friend. Unless that is what you are aiming for.
Allie Finkle is moving into a "haunted house"( or at least that is what her neibor's older brother says). Allie has a hard time ajusting to her new surrounings. She does many odd things, including rescuing a turtle from becoming turtle soup at a resturant, avoiding her new basement because there might be a hand up there, and leting a pedegre persian cat out of a suitcase and out into the streets. That results pretty good, considering the fact the cat met up with a male cat, and had kittens! Allie actually gets to possibly have one, but soon gets that privledge taken away from her. If I were you, Id read this book to find out the rest of what happens to Allies kitten, her attic, the turtle, and her new best friend.
Read this book and loved it? Read the second one: Allie Finkles Rules for Girls 2: New Girl. And what if you cant get enough of Allie? Go to www.alliefinklerules.com for fun games and message boards!

Rules..... rules.... rules. What do you think of when you here that word, be quiet in the library or always wash your hands before dinner. Not to Allie Finkle, to her, rules are really exciting, in fact she actually writes rules in a book.
Allie Finkle has a lot of stuff hanging over her head like, having a best friend who cries a lot, two annoying little brothers, promises to keep with her Uncle Jay and possibly MOVING into a HAUNTED house! Some of her rules are kind of funny like "don't stick a spatula down your best friends throat", if that's not funny then I don't know what is. Allie has a HUGE imagination(as you can see). This book has a ton of cliff- hanging chapters.
My favorite part in this book is when Allie saves the Lung Chung turtle, Wang Ba from getting eaten! Allie has to be really smart about hiding because a waitress, her dad, her mom and her Uncle Jay are chasing her. But when her Uncle Jay finds her he doesn't make Allie give the turtle back, he makes a deal with her! I love this part in the book because I am an animal lover and I love to see people stick up for animals.
These are only a few of the characters in Allie Finkle's rules for girls:
Brittany Hauser-the meanest girl in Mrs.Myers class
Mary Kay- Allie's "best friend"
Courtney Wilcox- Brittany Hauser's "best friend"
Uncle Jay-Allie's awesome uncle
Erica- the girl who lives next to the HAUNTED house
Out of all of the details in this book I would probably pick, "Lady Serena Archibald was beautiful. She had long, silky gray fur and big blue eyes. And when I went over to pet her, Lady Serena Archibald turned those big blue eyes up to look at me and she opened her tiny mouth, mrow in the cutest way you could possibly imagine." I think that is funny because it's nothing like the rest of the lines in the book.
I would definitely recommend this book to girls who like realistic-fiction or just a great book!

Allie Finkle is nine years old, but she has issues --- serious issues. First of all, she accidentally touched her friend's uvula with a spatula, and now Mary Kay is barely speaking to her. She also must think about the bombshell her parents recently dropped on her --- that they are moving from their lovely suburban split-level to a haunted fixer-upper in another town where she faces the prospect of having to attend a new school and make new friends. Add two bratty little brothers and the possibility of a new pet kitten into the mix, and you have fourth-grade chaos!
Allie, however, is a resourceful and intelligent girl. As she states herself, "I like rules. The reason why is, rules help make our lives easier. That's why I like science and math. You know where you stand with them, rulewise. What I'm not so crazy about is everything else. Because there are no rules for everything else." And so goes Meg Cabot's opening installment in her first series for tweens, Allie Finkle's Rules for Girls. Book one is subtitled MOVING DAY, and it's a joy to read.
Allie manages to override her every disappointment (her relocation to an ancient Victorian house, the unwanted specter she insists is living in their new dilapidated attic, the loss of her beloved and hard-won rock collection at her old home) with a measure of both grace and bravado that will have young readers cracking up. She is a great heroine --- plucky and snarky as well as resourceful and honest --- though she is not above the kind of annoyance that most girls her age would experience, especially sharing a house with two younger brothers. But she isn't snotty or a gossip, and her interests are not limited to fashion and Bratz-oriented activities. In short, Allie is an honest-to-goodness all-American kid.
Cabot has created Allie so that there are a million and one different things that can happen to her in order to make a complete book series (and perhaps a TV program or the occasional film adaptation, which the author is used to watching her work morph into, ala The Princess Diaries). Like Harriet the Spy or Henry Huggins, Allie is a typical kid with a normal life that is heightened just enough to make good drama, teach some lessons without feeling moralistic, and bring the reader into occasional convulsions of laughter. Not a bad prospect.
Allie's interest in math and science is a great addition to her other "kid" things. Since there is a push in education to make these pursuits more amenable to girls, especially at this age, Cabot does everyone a favor by highlighting them. But Allie is no geek. She's not some genius blowing things up in a home-basement lab, which is a relief. This is a trend that I hope becomes a popular one for other writers in this genre.
Cabot's winning tone and characterizations will make Allie Finkle's Rules for Girls a surefire hit with its target audience as well as parents who care to provide their children with role models you can't find in other media created for this age group. Long live Allie Finkle!

Allie has always been good about knowing life's rules, just not always following them. Her life is filled with turmoil as her family announces their attention to move, something Allie is not excited about and which causes a huge fight between her and her best friend. Filled with Meg Cabot's typical humor and keen insight into life as a girl, this book is great for readers who enjoyed the movie of the The Princess Diaries but aren't quite ready for the book.

Never be a catcher when Brittany Hauser is up to bat, you can't let your guests starve, and don't stick a spatula down you best friend's throat are three out of the many rules from the book Allie Finkle's Rules For Girls.
Allie Finkle is a spunky nine-year old girl who collects geodes, writes rules, and loves animals. Her life is going pretty well until her parents drop the big news on her. She's moving! Even with the promise from her parents to get a new kitten and there is neighbors with a nice girl her age she is still not convinced. But one thing she is convinced about is that there is a zombie hand living in her new houses attic. Once her parents tell her she is moving her life starts going down hill. Her so called "best friend" Mary Kay is no longer her best friend and when Brittany Hauser tries to get them to be friends again she ends up making it even worse then it already is. Will Allie ever be happy? Will she actually move into the "haunted house" ?
My favorite part of the book is when Allie saves a turtle at the Lung Chung restaurant from being made into turtle soup. Allie hides in the back of a car while people including the staff at the Lung Chung restaurant and her own family runs around looking for her.
I like that part the best because I love animals and if I were Allie I would probably do the same thing. Also because it was really funny.
There is only one part in the book that I didn't like. It was when Brittany played lady business executive and shoved her mother's fancy show cat into a suitcase and ran around while swinging it.
Some of the characters from this book are:
Brittany Hauser- a spoiled brat that abuses animals and throws bats.
Mary Kay Shiner- Allie's "best friend" that cries when things don't go her way.
Courtney Wilcox- a nice girl that's gets dumped by her best friend for somebody else.
Scott Stampley- A annoying boy in Allie's class that ruined her friendship with Mary Kay.
Erica Harrington- Allie's could be new best friend.
I would recommend this book to girls about the ages of 11-14. It was really good and I could not put it down. I know others would feel the same way if they read this book and maybe be able to relate to Allie like I did!

It's hard to get through a chapter without laughing or stirring up memories of great friends and most excellent times. Haven't heard from an old friend for awhile, get them a copy. "After a good movie, conversation with a good friend, and great chocolate, all's right with the world." ~Laura Jensen Walker
Laura Jensen Walker is well traveled, loves movies and enjoys spending time with her friends. In this celebration of friendship she explores friendship traditions and the beauty of each meaningful connection.
She includes "girl pearls" throughout the chapters. These are ideas for tea parties or other celebrations of friendship. She loves scones, chocolate and a good cup of tea. She also gives ideas for sandwiches with cheddar cheese and apples that I will definitely try. She lived in England in her early twenties and loves reminiscing.
I have rarely laughed so much while reading a book. I love cats, but Laura's dog Gracie is pretty hilarious. This book is filled with quotes, memories and laughs. Pass the Leonidas chocolates...

Laura Walker has done it again. In this, her latest collection of fall down funny reading, she offers us her laughter-filled take on the ups and downs of female friedship. Sorry guys. Girl Time is just for us. This book kept both me and my nineteen-year-old daughter (who was intrieged by the darling cover) in stitches. Laura's commentary on friendships between various members of the fairer sex is right on. As a woman from the Texas, she nails us southern gals. (Bless her heart.) This book would make a wonderful gift for a friend or female family member -- would especially be great to take along to give as friendship gifts on a girls' night out or weekend away.

A "6 Star" laugh your butt off book! The cat & dog stories had me "Howling" (no pun intended). If you love animals, you will laugh out loud! It is rare when any book makes me laugh out loud. And even rarer when I laugh at the same parts over & over again! Reading 'Girl Time' brought back my own memories of friends, places and times I never want to forget. I called my sister in Oregon, we laughed together as I read her several sections; she finally told me to "shut up" and send her the book. She "didn't want me to spoil the ending". I told her there is no ending. When she got the book; she called me and we "howled" together again. Laura Jensen Walker now has two devoted fans!

And get ready to laugh, nod and even shed a few tears! This tale of slumber parties, changing relationships, girlfriend groups and friends old and new is just plain fun. Each page made reflect with joy on the women God has brought into my life and swell with anticipation (well, I was already swollen, but you get the idea) at the new friendships God has for me. If you can't think of the right gift for one of your "girls", this is it. Buy a stack of 'em!
