Divided into 3 liturgical sections: 1) Advent, 2) Christmas, 3) Epiphany... this is a really cool book (printed in RED ink!). Fabulous ideas for making your holiday season, as an individual, but most especially as a family, truly something to remember. How to create memories that will last a lifetime. Really.... I don't think I'm gonna sell my copy it's so cool!

Reflections and ideas on the "real" meaning of Christmas

This author divides up the Christmas season into it's three distinct parts: Advent, "christmastide," and epiphany, in keeping with the religious significance of Christmas. The focus is on the birth of Jesus and less on the commercially-driven tradition of Santa Claus and the buying frenzy. There are many practical and simple ideas for family and friend celebrations and get-togethers as well as quiet, reflective Christmas traditions. It provides lovely substitutes for all of the frenetic Christmas obligations that seem to permeate the season.

Sit and sip some tea on the porch as this author's words are absorbed by your brain, captured by your heart and etched into your essence as a fond memory. Ms. Silas' written word meets you where you are on this journey and accompanies you like a dear fried: you agree on a lot of things, she makes you laugh, ponder or pushes you to uncomfortable places. But the same as a friend - she doesn't leave you alone. Her words soothe and encourage you to continue to move foward. So keep sipping your tea and nodding your head and saying, "I know that's right!" and simply enjoy....

Calling all seekers of truth: don't miss the opportunity to understand yourself and others beyond all imaginable realms of understanding.

Cruising the Epiphany Highway (Vol. 1) has been the most challenging and by far the most rewarding education of my lifelong spiritual quest. It is overflowing with grounded insight after exalted observation that will truly blow your mind and change your consciousness (if you let it).

Reading and assimilating this book is like participating in a personal raja yoga retreat facilitated by a master of sahaja-samadhi (aka 'most enlightened enlightenment'). Am Rosen is the metaphysical love-child of the Marx brothers, Albert Einstein, Kali and Hildegard of Bingen. He is a living example of Gandhi's invitation to 'be the change you wish to see in the world.' Humanity is truly blessed by his presence.

Quick, somebody -- really -- put him in charge of this confused, desperate mess... he will have the whole ball of wax humming contentedly in no time

Am Rosen's CRUISING THE EPIPHANY HIGHWAY is nothing short of miraculous. It is a roadmap to the stars written by a heartfelt, Master Psychologist, revolutionary unique thinker and playful wordsmith whose incisively profound, brilliant and visionary 'Soul-Sight' reflections he generously shares with the readers through his lifelong personal Journey of discovery so that we may expand our own spiritual vistas.
If you want a jolt of life altering wisdom and joy with your cup of coffee, grab lots of copies of this literary masterpiece, as you'll surely want to share CRUISING THE EPIPHANY HIGHWAY with your friends. To say I was deeply affected by this book is an understatement.

Finding The True Spirit Of Advent With God.

For my family and me, reading this book has become a tradtion during Advent. How many times have you roamed the shopping malls, your local Wal-Mart during Christmas only to come home and feel detached from the Birth of Christ-the true meaning of Advent? This insightful book places the reader on track as to why Christ was born, the importance of waiting for His Birth. I highly recommend this book for families. Read it together, talk about it, refresh yourself. A true guide to the Advent season!

A Catholic Answer to the "Purpose Driven Life"

Review Date: 2004-12-11
For those seriously seeking to grow in holiness and bring some order to their daily prayer life, I strongly recommend this series. Drawing upon Sacred Scripture, the writings of the saints, and his own life experiences, the author brings together three daily meditations (about five to ten minutes each) that center around the Scripture readings of the Mass that day.

Imparted in these meditations are knowledge of the faith, advice on how to pray more fervently, and a clear understanding of virtue and its importance. It also inspires us to serve God faithfully. A good Catholic answer to the latest Protestant craze over "The Purpose Driven Life".

Not just for priests and preachers

I own the entire set of Days of the Lord which covers the Sunday readings of Years A,B,and C, Advent, Lent and Easter, and I finally got this volume which is a commentary on the Solemnities and Feasts of the liturgical year. In all of the volumes is a wealth of insight regarding the readings for any particular Sunday or holy day. It is not casual reading but simple enough for the laity to understand. I agree that this is a great resource for ministers and would creat sparks to start a homily with. But I also believe that for anyone who seriously wants to prepare and understand the Liturgy of the Word, this is an excellent tool. It puts you in the right disposition for Mass. As a Lector, it also helps me put more expression in my reading because I understand what it is all about. I highly recommend this and all the other volumes of this set.

Great resource for preachers and homilists.

Since the revision of the Roman Lectionary, scriptural based preaching has become the ideal and the norm. Unfortunately, many preachers find it difficult to make connections with all the readings for a given Sunday or Feast Day. The Days of the Lord series is not an exegetical commentary, but rather a guide for insights into what the Church desires to be preached from its selection of readings. The text is clear and easy to read. It provides some exegesis to ground the readings in the thought of the biblical world. But it also includes enough poetry and symbolic language to allow a good homilist to use these readings to speak to the people of today. These books are a great help in constructing a lectionary-based homily or sermon, thereby achieving the goals set forth by the bishops in their pastoral instruction on preaching.

Epiphany - Discover the True Treasures of the Bible
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2005-10-03
Reading the bible doesn't have to be a long and winding road with distractions from one's numerous thoughts, one's preconceptions and the strong temptation to close the book for a deep slumber. Epiphany introduced me to a whole new way of reading the bible. When I read the bible now, I EXPERIENCE it - the words, the characters' feelings and especially what God is telling me at that very moment in my life. There is no coincidence - God is actually telling me what to do with my situation, whatever it may be. That's how much He truly loves us! Thanks to Epiphany, no longer is bible reading a long and winding road but rather it is a clear highway with ever changing sceneries of green pastures, arid deserts or fields of yellow flowers.

Great Advent preparation

Review Date: 2006-03-04
For anyone looking for a very personal and spiritual guide to walk though the weeks of Advent, this is it. I've used it for a few years now, (this one was a gift for next year) and it brings the true meaning of the time before Christmas to heart. I wish there was one like this for Lent as well as other times of the year.

Great Advent study
Helpful Votes: 8 out of 8 total.
Review Date: 2004-10-27
This book offers a great advent study for those with 10-15 minutes a day to spend with the reading, the scriptural passage, and to read and hopefully reflect on the prayer included for each day. The story/short essay provided is 2-3 pages in length, easy to read, and involves a reflection by the author about that day's topic. The book provides a small group discussion guide for each week for those who want to do the study with a group. I shall do the study alone, however, and will find it just as interesting I believe. In our busy world, the study is very doable in a short amount of time each day, and if you get behind a day or two it won't be overwhelming to catch up. All in all, a nice study for the Advent season, and a little push each day to encourage us to stay with a little daily Bible reading as the Advent season progresses.

Project Epiphany: Getting More Actual Every Day
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2006-02-07
"Project Epiphany" is an exciting, highly accurate immediate-future scenario, (nonfiction presented in the format of a UFO/Spy Mystery novel,) dealing with dramatic government and civilian events leading to open acknowledgment of extraterrestrial visitation to Earth.
Roger Maguire, a cultural anthropologist, meets Barbara Catalina, a professional psychic, at an ancient Anasazi village site. They discover a mutual interest in the Star Visitors, fueled by a common bond of both having experienced close encounters.
They learn of a secret civilian plan, Project Epiphany, involving a formal meeting between the Star Visitors and human representatives at an formal extraterrestrial landing. Maguire and Barbara endeavor to join the civilian welcoming team.
Adding to the intrigue is a rogue National Security Agency group called JANUS trying to thwart the Landing. A Hopi Indian elder befriends Roger and provides secret predictions about the return of the Star People and of coming Earth cataclysms.
Amid the human treachery and conflict, the Star Visitors plan to begin making an open entrance into human society.
This is a captivating book, that more closely reflects real events behind the scenes than the author will admit. It can be considered a primer for revelations soon to appear on the front pages of major dailies. But why wait? Read it now.
