Easter Books

I used this Dora book to teach my Kindergartners in English and Spanish about some words we use with celebrating Easter. They loved it !

This is a great book for those who enjoy a story with lots of twists and turns. The plot was well-planned, and the author's style of writing quite interesting! If you enjoy a thought-provoking, informative story, this book's for you!

This book will beat the sense back into you using well developed characters and the unreal yet likley dilemmas they face when the world (or what's left of it) has been robbed of it's luxuries--and population. It goes in depth into so many relateable characters that I found myself cheering them on, cursing them out, or trying to solve their problems. I was nudged into the realization that I was not just a spectator, I was part of the spectacle.

A touching storybook filled with beautiful, life-like illustrations. Contains an inpiring message that moves you to tears, then fills your heart with hope. I give it a thumbs-up. Can't wait for their next book.

Illustrated with a superb elegance of grace and form by Rick Johnson, The Legend Of The Sand Dollar: An Inspirational Story Of Hope For Easter by Chris Auer is the story of an eight-year-old girl who learns the story of Easter in the sand dollar. The five holes in the sand dollar shell (only dead sand dollars wash up on beaches, and live sand dollars shouldn't be collected, the author notes in the very back of the book) symbolize the nails and the spear that pierced Jesus Christ, who died for humanity's sins. And when the sand dollar is broken, there appear five white particles representing doves and their promise of new life - the promise of Easter. A tender and heartwarming story of renewal.

Thomas Craughwell, author of the best-selling "Saints Behaving Badly," has written a fact-filled set of Marian-themed reflections for the liturgical seasons of Lent and Easter. You might call his book an "historical devotional," since each entry typically contains little-known information about the history surrounding various Marian feast days and celebrations. Examples include the story behind the first postage stamp with the image of Our Lady, a description of sacred music composer Palestrina's devotion to Mary, the survival of a Marian statue when Paris was ransacked by violent Protestant iconoclasts, the conversion from Lutheranism of the University of Notre Dame's Knute Rockne, and the dedication of Maryland's "St. Mary's," the first seminary in the U.S. Want to gain a deeper appreciation for Mary's role in the 2,000-year history of the Church (while preparing yourself for the summit of the Church's liturgical calendar)? This is your book. Highly recommended.

I'm so thankful that Mary at our seminary bookstore recommended this book to me for my Lenten journey--my first introduction to Ed Hays. Though soundly grounded in the traditional and historic of Lent, from both Old and New Testaments, Hays then intriguingly and quite appropriately weaves tradition with the new--hobo language and symbols--which daily gives fresh perspectives and new direction to one's spiritual journey of transformation. And that doesn't have to be only at Lent! Lenten Hobo Honeymoon would also be a good resource for pastors of most denominations: it inspired my best sermon, including a unique Ash Wednesday liturgy and ritual.

A beautiful book and perfect gift for anyone interested in learning what the Bible (and other historical sources) says about our Lord Jesus Christ.

This is the bed that helps her to go to bed at night. She loves to "read" by herself and even lets me read it to her too. She always asks for "Baa". The drawings are lovely, the story is sweet. My daughter is fascinated by the fact that little Baa nurses with his mommy too.

Easter has arrived at Little Critter's house. It is a day for baskets and surprises, a visit to Grandma and Grandpa, an egg hunt, and a new friend. Egg the Bunny is a special rabbit indeed!

This Little Critter book has right-side foldout flaps that allow readers an extra peek into more of the story. It is a simple, fun, and gentle installment to the beloved series.
