Amazing Personal Journey With Jesus!

This book, as well as many of Max Lucado's book's, gives you a personal step by step walk with Jesus. Max Lucado uses everyday life situations so that you can experience each emotion that our Saviour felt in his walks. When reading this book I was able to understand some of the pain, struggles and joy that Jesus felt. I applied past experiences in my life to understand how he must have felt when he was rejected by those that loved him and cast aside by those that once called him their friend. I would recommend to everyone to purchase this book, especially those who want a better understanding of what our Saviour endured for the love of his own.

This book is a well written, and moving account of the final week of Jesus. You feel as though you are walking along with Him during that time. You can feel the pain, rejection, and triumph of the crucifixion and resurrection. This is a life changing book. I was literally moved to tears the first time that I read this book.

A Scientific Study of the Empty Tomb Narratives
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2001-01-01
Although it is an area that scholars usually shy away from, Edward Lynn Bode puts the stories of the visit of the women to the empty tomb of Jesus under investigation. Based on my own study, I disagree with the conclusion that Bode reaches in the last part of book, namely, that the empty tomb narratives are basically historical. However, Bode undertakes his own examination fairly and, thus, is to be commended. I found much of value in this book besides, particularly in the redaction criticism of all four empty tomb narratives. The best trait that Bode exhibits is an encyclopedic knowledge of various scholarly positions, which allows him to refer to the various differering opinions before presenting his own conclusion. This is fine scholarship.

K-2nd grade childrens church choir

If you are wanting to share the gospel to everyone, through the voices of children, this is the best I have seen/heard/taught... by far. Kathie and Melody have gone above and beyond with Fish Tales to create a story experience for all ages during Thanksgiving, Easter and Missions. In addition, what I have learned is that you can do these any time throughout the year! They don't just have to stay contained to those 3 litergical "seasons". ...and the best part is, is that you can split up the musical in to 1 mini-musical if you just want to do music for that particular season. It's easy for all grade levels K-above.

Excellent Lenten reading!

Msgr. Coogan's reflections for Lent are excellent. Spiritually rich yet accessible, he helps us work with the Holy Spirit to make a good Lent in preparation for the great Feast of Easter. His Advent book is just as good; a reading a day and they never grow stale. Excellent book as a devotional or for meditation. Now, if I could only find more of his work!

Mr. Henderson's experiences in the 1916 revoltion are unique. This is a personal recollection rich and detail--and untainted by a political agenda. Although an Irish Volunteer, Mr. Henderson was not a member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood. His experience are priceless.

From Resurrection to Pentecost: Easter-Season Meditations (Crossroad Faith & Formation Book)

Excellent Book

Robert Morneau's latest book, From Resurrection to Pentecost: Easter-Season Meditations, is not for spiritual novices. But if you're interested in a book of meditations based on the Daily Office, there is none better. From Resurrection to Pentecost is the third of a series that I hope will eventually include the whole church year. Providing daily meditations for the seven weeks between Easter and Pentecost, Morneau's format is effective. Each entry offers a brief contextual comment on the Gospel reading assigned for the day, an antiphon that can be used as a mantra for centering prayer, a selection of poetry, a commentary on the poem, three questions for personal or communal reflection, and a concluding prayer.

The seven poets selected are the glory of the book. Some of them, like William Blake and Gerard Manley Hopkins, were familiar to me. Others, like Ralph Wright and Morneau himself, were delightfully new. The selection for the Friday of the Third Week of Easter was typical. Reading Anne Higgins' "The Space Window at the Washington Cathedral" allowed me to preen a bit in my Anglican identity, but, more importantly, it illuminated Morneau's insight that "the Eucharist is God's stained-glass window."
