Grant Jeffrey is a foremost authority on Biblical prophecy and apologetics. His analysis of Scripture and God's orderly methods of dealing with mankind (especially Israel) is outstanding. This book makes the best case I have heard yet that the Lord Jesus Christ is returning very soon and will probably do so in my lifetime. If you are looking for a primary reference on the whether or not we are living in the last days, this is it!

A Compelling Work

Review Date: 2007-08-08
On many levels I found this book fascinating and compelling. From a pure story/adventure perspective, I found the story telling so engaging that I completed my first pass of the book in 3 hours. I found the language and writing to be current and quite good and the additional pictures to be fascinating and somewhat unsettling.
Perhaps that most intriguing aspect of the novel was that which lay behind and between the words and imagery. The thoughts and imagery are thought provoking, if not ground breaking, on many fronts; historical, religious, metaphysical and biological. I was blown away by the pictures and juxtaposition of different images to explain everything from the purposes of the chambers in the Great Pyramid of Kufu to the Exodus out of Egypt.
I plan on reading this book several times in an attempt to further understand the connections and issues discussed. There is also a lot of outside material to understand and connect to in order to grasp some of the topics in this book. This is a great book and one which you can come back to time and time again to find something new.

I read this book in the late 60s and just about everything in it happened a few years later (even when it mentioned a President resigns - 5 years before Nixon actually did). Makes you sit up and take notice.

The San Francisco earthquake of 1906 usually is written up for older audiences, so it's nice to see a picturebook coverage of one of the most famous disasters in American history, for kids in grades 2-4. In Earthquake! , all of the color drawings and black and white photos provide eye-catching detail of the events.

Professor Handy was one of my teachers and I can still, after 22+ years, remember some of his lessons. His simplifies complex subjects with humor in a manner that is unforgetable. I am purchasing several copies for Christmas gifts for friends interested in earth science. I highly recommend this book for all professional earth scientists and engineers. I especially recommend the book for future home buyers and realtors.

Postulating that God's work took billions of years

Review Date: 2004-03-05
David N. Brems is a scientist with nearly twenty years' experience in the biopharmaceutical field and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In Divine Engineering: Scriptural Accounts And Scientific Truths About The Earth's Creation Are Compatible, Brems offers the reader an enthusiastic appreciation for the immense power of God the Creator, and presents scientific hypotheses of Creation as approximations to the work that God did. Postulating that God's work took billions of years to complete and utilized the natural laws and principles of chemistry and physics, Divine Engineering is a thoughtful and fresh new look at a long-standing controversy arising from biblical theology and secular science.

The Savage Earth the DK Way
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2001-10-26
DK Guide to Savage Earth by Trevor Day is an exciting introduction to our fascinating planet for preteens. The book starts with the Big Bang and takes the reader through the whole range of earth sciences-related events and ends with human effects on the planet. The book is done in the DK style with stunning pictures and short, to-the-point explanations. The book has a good index, data tables, and glossary at the end of the book. This would be an excellent book for the late elementary/early junior high aged young person showing an interest in nature or our planet. The subjects are handled calmly and objectively, but could produce worry in the more faint of heart child. Some students come into my earth science class thinking that the Earth is pretty boring compared to other planets like Venus or Mars, but learn differently once they've been introduced to our very interesting planet. Introduce your favorite young person to our planet with DK Guide to Savage Earth!

Superbly presented environmental awareness for young readers
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2002-03-28
Part of the Enslow Publishers' outstanding "Finding Out About Holidays" series, Elaine Landau's Earth Day: Keeping Our Planet Clean teaches young readers about the history of Earth Day from its first celebration in 1970, and also emphasizes the importance of keeping the planet clean and doing one's part to recycle, plant trees, and conserve water. An excellent educational book ideal for showing the importance of environmental awareness to the next generation, Earth Day is very strongly recommended for school and community library collections, and would prove invaluable for enhancing a homeschooling curriculum nature/ecology studies reading list as well.
