This book has some great craft ideas that are a little complicated for young kids but terrific for the older ones. I really
appreciate the reuse of materials most people have in their homes already.

Tanya and the Earth Saving Project

"Tanya's Big Green Dream" is a wonderful book to start with before introducing a class project for Earth Day. The book is
also really good for young readers to learn about the many different ways they can help save the Earth (by recycling, conserving
water, etc). This is a short novel with small chapters with black and white pictures. The story begins as the students of
a class are trying to decide on the different projects they want to complete that has to do with "creating a cleaner greener
world." One problem that prevents this book from being a really attractive book is that it is difficult to figure out who
Tanya is in pictures with other children. There are also times where Tanya looks older for her age and creates a confusing
image of who Tanya is. On the other hand the story provides several different obstacles that are realistic and that are ones
children need to think about when doing a project. Even with the confusing pictures, this book does provide children several
ideas on how they can save the Earth and introduces some obstacles for them to think about when getting involved in the Earth
activities.

Let us not care about Earth. Christ is coming to save the us (Christians only) anyways. This book is great, we should not
teach our children to be environmentally aware or that stupid notion of free thought...Jesus needs us to make this place a
living hell for all the non believers.
Anything that is not Christian is evil. Yes, we do have a superiority complex.

The idea behind environmentalism is caring for the environment, the same is true for Paganism, but that doesn't mean that
either carries the other's agenda. Christianity promotes "the Golden Rule", does that mean that IT is politically oriented
and we should stop it? This book completely ignores the fact that a good idea is a good idea, no matter what other things
are associated with it. Think again before you take this book seriously!

Standing alone, a group of like-minded people working together to solve a commonly perceived problem does not a conspiracy
make; recognition that ours is a global community with problems that require global solutions hardly requires an epiphany.
Samantha does make a better case than most authors of this genre, but I don't think there is a case to be made.
One can only hope that Samantha finally turns her attention toward more pressing problems within the Christian community.

The book "Goddess Earth" really opened my eyes about why the environmental movement is growing so rapidly in America and around
the world. We should be taking care of the environment, but certain elements in the environmental movement should be of
great concern to all of us. This book is heavily documented with quotes from Al Gore's "Earth in the Balance" and from other
highly influential people such as Ted Turner who promote government control of the earth and its people as the only successful
means to protect the environment. "Goddess Earth" also shows how earth (Gaia) worship is being promoted in children's cartoons
and videos, in classroom discussions on the environment, and in the media. Paganism, witchcraft, and native American rituals
are becoming widely acceptable, all in the name of the environment.
This book reveals how many churches and religious organizations have gotten on the "green" bandwagon, because it is considered
one of the today's hottest "politically correct" movements.
When you read "Goddess Earth," you'll realize that much of what as known as the modern environmental movement is really a
dangerous tool to brainwash chilren (and adults), encourage them to "voluntarily" give up their rights and freedoms, and submit
willingly to increased government control, all in the name of "protecting the environment."
I feel that "Goddess Earth" is a tremendous wake-up call to Christians and other concerned citizens, and I highly recommend
this book. We must all be involved in spreading the truth rather than fiction about the environment.

two stars for creativity

The author puts forward a rather unique fundamentalist interpretation of the Genesis creation account. He believes that each
of the creative days was a literal 24 hour day, but that an untold amount of time elapsed between the creation of the universe
and the start of the first day of creation, hence the title of the book. His theory would account for all of the starlight
problems that plague young earth creationism by accepting the great age of the universe, a bold and brave step for a creationist
writer to take. From this promising start however, the author falters by using a very imaginative but impossible series of
events to explain a sudden modification of an already existing barren earth over a period of just 6 days into a life supporting
planet. The author's theory for accomplishing this remarkable transformation is a highly technical series of natural but divinely
guided events that turned a barren rock into our earth. The problem is that his chain of events depends on his reinterpretation
of the physical laws of the universe. Using far more technical expertise than is demonstrated by creation scientists in general,
Leander Pimenta rewrites the entire creation of the universe to allow for a highly accelerated make over of the earth in 6
days. Pimenta's creation theory is self-consistent and runs with the precision of a swiss watch, until you start comparing
it with basic physical facts, then massive errors are found that are like sand in Pimenta's watch. Some of these little errors
are more the size of mountains, for example "The Earth could never have been in a wholly molten state because had it been
so it's rotation would have flattened it into a disc just like a ball of very soft clay on a rapidly rotating potters wheel"
page 15, Pimenta apparently doesn't understand gravity or the earth's internal structure. He also rejects the Big Bang theory
and puts forward instead a theory involving the properties of neutrons and we are told that "Neutrons may be regarded as tiny
magnets, so once formed their own magnetism ensured that the neutrons would clump together quickly." page 171. Which is to
say the least, a very different description of neutron behavior than what my seventh grade science teacher told me. Pimenta
then uses his unique interpretation of particle physis as a basic building block in creating his theory, which reaches a high
point of creative imagination on the operation of our Sun. Pimenta explains that our Sun generates its output due to the friction
of three mutually orbiting neutron cores whipping about inside the Sun. Such Alice-in-Wonderland physics are key to Pimenta's
theory and are in complete conflict with such obvious observations as the failure of his internally orbing solar neutron cores
to cause any wobbling of our Sun. From having debated these issues with the author in e-mail, I know that he is a true believer
in his theory and is a man of faith, the problem is that the universe is unkind to Pimenta by insisting on being different
than what he predicts. This book well illustrates the situation facing creationism today, modern science reveals glaring contradictions
with creationist interpretations of scripture, giving one the choice of revaluating certain interpretations of scripture in
light of Scientific knowledge or turning away from scientific facts and pursuing flights of fancy as represented by this book.
The Bible is a scientifically accurate book since it was written by the creator of the physical laws of the universe, it is
merely the overly rigid interpretation along doctrinally preset lines that create the impossible paradoxes that confront creationism
today that this book unsuccessfully attempts to solve. But I still give it two stars for creativity.

This is the US title of the MOVIE of the Final Programme. Moorcock had nothing to do with the US title (Last Days) and disassociated
himself from the movie. Not the book. The books is THE FINAL PROGRAMME, part of The Cornelius Quartet (Orion, UK, still

Religious fiction at it's worst. Excited by the press release I read of Jones' book Tribulation and Last Days, I couldn't
wait to read it, but I still I'm waiting to finish it. The book is hard to read and will remain on my bookshelf unread. The
knowledge of the author about events in the book, are at best poor. But I did find a good book: The Reluctant Messenger
of Science and Religion by Stephen Boston Ph.D. & Evelyn Boston Ph.D. Available from Amazon.com, published by Writers Showcase.
ISBN 0-595-26821-8. This religious fiction novel is a must read. Great knowledge of events and wonderful writing style,
this book is waiting to be discovered.
