I'm a fan of Maggie O'Farrell's and was really looking forward to reading this. O'Farrell has always been about love, but
love with a twist of melancholy. In this book, classic romance creeps in a big way and ... for me, part the thrill has gone
[soft] for it.
The characters in "The distance between us" are not as involving and her writing is a lot less dark, losing some of its bite in the process.
In summary, this book is still a pretty good read, but it doesn't pack the same punch as some of her previous work (e.g. this is nowhere near as hard hitting as "After You'd Gone).

So my g/f decided to be cute and sent me this book. so I got it check it out and it's full of the same old BS. Then I looked
at the cover, something doesn't look right. Look closer on the edge w/ the picture of each animal. Dragon, snake, horse,
goat, so far so good. I keep looking, monkey, rooster, cat... WAIT A MINUTE!!!! CAT?? KITTY CAT??? since when there's
a year of the CAT?
So yeah, Mr. Somerville, please stick to the common English novels. Thank you very much.

I buy this book every year, and must have! Mr. Somerville has a chapter on each sign as well as an introduction for the year.
What's nice is that the new year starts in either late january or early february, so it's not necessary to have at christmas
or new year, but something interesting to read a month later. I recommend to all astrological people!

Good for introduction to CNY crafts

If you are new to celebrating CNY or want to introduce the holiday to children who've never celebrated, then this book may
point you in the right direction. If you are familiar with CNY, then these crafts aren't anything you wouldn't have thought
of on your own.
Includes very basic instructions for banners, paper fire crackers for holding candy, puppets, lanterns, noisemakers etc. The illustrations are good, and the materials are things that you would probably have around the house already.
I'm always looking for good crafts to do with our cross-cultural family, but this book was just too basic.

I added this book to my project for multi-cultural children's book in the class for children's literature. The text shows
how chinese people get ready for New Year and it, inviting poeple home with a lot of food, putting read papaer in the house,
or putting on a new clothe. It is so fun to see what they do looking at the colorful pictures. It does not contain historical
background in detail;however, it is a good children's book to introduce children to other culture and evoke their interest.

This edition (Xiaoshan Di Ya Shui Qian) is NOT, despite the book description, a bilingual edition--it is Chinese only (simplified/modern
characters). I gave it 3 stars because I had to give it something--my Chinese is not good enough (yet) that I could read
the book.

This "chinese calendar" is not really chinese calendar, it did not have the chines date on it, for example, Feb 7 of this
yeas is the chines New Year, the day before Feb 7 should be the chinese calendar 30 which is the new years eve. This calendar
doesn't have that, it is same as other calenar.
But one thing I have to mention is the Amazon customer service is very good, my first order is from smokeymountain, I never recieve my order, so I call amazon, and amazon did next day deliver.

Disappointed Reviewer: A reader from Huntington Beach, CA Having just finished the absolute fantastic book by Jared Diamond,"Guns,
Germs and Steel", a successfully written story of mankind in 450 pages, I was hoping "Dragon's Tale" would also hit the same
mark. I was sadly disappointed. The book is so poorly written it is difficult to concentrate and take in the offfered information.
The grammar and editing is poor, the text has a variety of date errors, and typos are many. The aggressive use of font bolding
is also distracting to the reader. In the history context the author has intermingled vague statements of professed fact
with personal thoughts and opinions. It is difficult to separate one from the other in trying to determine fact from fiction
and fable from valid history. The author starts out; repeating several times in the book, by saying the Great Wall is the
only man-made object visible with the naked eye from the moon. Most of us have heard this fable before. But, that is what
it is, a fable. No man-made object is visible from the moon with the naked eye.

In this story she chronicles the lives and parallels of Stella and Jake. I found the writing to be wonderful as always and the characters were engaging as well. It is a different type of love story but one I definitely enjoyed.
