The picture here does not do the illustrations justice. They are uniquely, striking and moving. This artist is the Ansel Adams of Illustrations. Any child will be deeply moved and feel very loved, having this book read to them. The first person point of view of this book, is universal; thus, all children will feel as if it has been written especially for them.- it is a real feel-good little gem, appropriate as a gift from mother to child of ANY age:)

While pregnant with my first and only child, I shopped around for the perfect baby journal in which my daughter could grow up and look at and ask all the questions that come along with baby journals. I had also started collecting Carl books - why? Because we have owned a boy and girl Rottie who were both knighted our "babies" until of course I bacame pregnant. As a Rottweiler owner, there couldn't be a better type of journal. Now my daughter and my last surviving Rottie are best friends as I still read her Carl books on a weekly basis. Of course, she thinks she can just get on top of "Pollo" (really "Apollo")and ride -
but he doesn't understand that Carl started it all!!!
I highly reccommend the Carl Baby Journal! You won't be disappointed! woof woof!!

The "Carl" books are wonderful. My son is 15 and I still pick up every "Carl" book I can find.

This was one of the first Jigsaw Jones books I read to my children.It hooked us and I've now read the eight in the series so far.The books are short enough to keep the kids interested.James Preller has the nack of putting the right ingredients in the books to make my children laugh,things that happen in every 4 to 8 year olds life.We've practiced the different secret codes that Jigsaw and his best friend Mila come up with.Also we learned abit about Abraham Lincoln even though we are Canadians living in England.The Jigsaw Jones books are well travelled and luckily I can get them through Amazon in the U.K., So I guess this is really a review of the series and not necessarily one book.They are nice reading before bed and my children are always ready to listen to the Jigsaw Jones books. I have purchased many, many books for my 17 month old daughter. Since she was less than a year old this book has consistently been one of her favorites. Without fail, she will pick it for me to read day after day. I love the beautiful, bright, colorful illustrations. I highly recommend it! I am definitely a Faith Ringgold fan.

"The World of Castles and Forts" is an excellent book. From the Ancient Greek city of Troy to the Maginot Line, this book offers wonderful information about the developement of forts and castles throughout time.I reccomend this book to youth and adults that are intrested in the subject. Although a bit juvenile, this literature is great for anyone. 2 Thumbs Up!

This is a wonderful book for all ages. For anyone who is interested in Ancient Egypt 3,000 years ago, it is a history of cats from that time period. It is a book for anyone who loves animals (particularly cats). It reaches far beyond time and transcends into a future where these magnificent creatures have lived for thousands of years and continue to grace our households today as royalty. Many of the greatest writers and poets: Charles Dickens, Ernest Hemingway have shared their households with cats. You will never look at cats in the same way after you've read this book. It is up there with "Gorillas In The Mist" and "Born Free" and is in a classification with Disney movies and books. If you want to read one book that will give you history, educate you and enthrall you at the same time, you need to read and own this book. This book also was read and highly recommended by Tippi Hedren, Actress and President of the Shambala Wildlife Preserve in California. This Preserve consists of the bigger cats. This book is in itself, a heirloom to pass on for generations to all of those who love and appreciate cats. You will not have ever read anything like it! It is indeed a very unique book that will touch the lives of those who read it. Elsa, the cat, is the hero in this book. She cared enough to help preserve her royal heritage and return the cat Goddess Bastet to the museum where she belonged. Along this journey, she makes friends with a camel in the desert and a siamese cat. She also encounters an Angel cat along the way who helps guide her on her historic and memorable journey. An evil black witch cat tries to hurt her and end her journey. Will Elsa make it in time to return the statue? Only time will tell...

I am currently putting together a curriculum about caves and have found this book very useful; it's very full of information and beautiful photographs. A wonderful resource for students and teachers alike!

My three year old daughter loves this book and so do I! Cecily Small comes to life in this book. It's a rainy day but Cecily has her dolls and her imagination. This is a book that we will enjoy for a long time.
