I love this book as it gives a different spin on the 100th day of school. As an educator, I am always looking for things that fit the curriculum but are of interest to the learners. There are many follow-through activities to do after reading this.

This book was a great one for Kindergarteners. Most schools are celebrating the 100th day of school. This book was not only enjoyable for me and my 5 yr. old. But also great ideas to help celebrate. I am purchasing another copy for his Kindergarten class.

All of the rookie readers books should be a must for any Prek or primary elementary school class. I have most if not all in the series and all are fantastic. The pictures are vibrant, the text simple yet detailed enough to educate.

The true-life memoir of a boy who lived in hiding for nearly three years in Nazi-occupied Zloczow
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2006-08-11
Flawlessly translated from the original Hebrew, 1111 Days in My Life Plus Four is the true-life memoir of a boy who lived in hiding for nearly three years in Nazi-occupied Zloczow, a small Polish village now in the Ukraine. Hidden with his family and a number of other Jews by a Catholic family, he survived and moved to Israel in 1957. 1111 Days in My Life Plus Four reveals his inner life and the permanent impression his past years of hiding left upon him. A dark revelation of the difficulties of coping with the painful past, 1111 Days in My Life Plus Four is vivid and recommended for Holocaust studies collections.

New Family Favorite

There's nothing wrong with the traditional version of the 12 Days of Christmas with its lords and ladies, milking maids, and variety of feathered creatures. On the other hand, Darragh's description of presents and cards for giving; carols, stars, bells, and candles; and "Our Savior Baby Jesus" will resonate more strongly with 21st Century Christian children. This new version, with its vibrant artwork, is guaranteed to become a family favorite.

The words are the song, but the illustrations are marvelous. Jerry Harston has captured the point of view of the partridge in a funny delightful manner.

A snowbound street. Dirk and Ellie - unidentical twins with fourpence between them - watch a rich old lady step out of a limosine. A £50 note falls from her hands and lands at their feet.

Great for those who help the child at home

This is a great product for parents who wish to help their kindergartener build on what they are learning in class. Lets face it, it's been a while since we adults have been in Kindergarten so we can easily mix in inappropriate leasons from higher grades thinking they are what is covered in Kindergarten. This book removes those questions of appropriateness lesson objectives and lets the parents focus on what counts the lessons themselves.

This book is also great for the pre-kindergarteners to get a heads up on what to expect from school and not to be surprised by the lessons. As the lessons are designed to take 30 minutes or less, it is not to hard to hold a child's attention span for the lessons.

The book even gives permission of copyright to be able to duplicate the lessons for multiple student use. (Guilt free usage, can't beat it.)

If you are looking for a tool, designed by teachers to help your child in an easy to understand daily lesson format, then buy this book.

Best of luck to you and your young student(s).

Wow!

365 Adventures is a fantastic book!

If you're a parent like me, you sometimes draw a mental blank when trying to find creative and enriching activities to do with your children. This book fills in those blanks!

It's full of adventures that you and your kids can do NOW (Make bookmarks, Create a secret identity), adventures you can do in a few hours (Make juice pops) and adventures that you can spread over a day or more (Make a personality collage, Invent a board game).

365 Adventures is not merely a list of 365 super-cool activities; each suggested adventure includes a paragraph or two about the activity and plenty of hints to get you started. Most of the ideas also include helpful advice to make certain the adventure is a success. "Don't put your birdbath on the picnic table or lawn furniture - unless you like bird poop, that is" is one humorous tidbit that comes to mind.

There are plenty of adventures in the book that my six-year-old can enjoy right now and others, like Make a map and Build a bat house, that we plan on conquering when she gets a bit older.

Even if you don't have children to share these activities with, I still recommend that you read this book. Many of the adventures would be great fun to do all by yourself or with a spouse or significant other.

All in all, a great book, ideal for rainy days and sunny days alike!
