"Stand Up and Walk with Jesus" is one of eight delightful action rhyme stories published by New Day Publishing. Chris Saunderson's
colorful illustrations help the child understand the setting and time frame of these important Bible stories. The inset illustrated
instructions for suggested actions make this an excellent teaching resource for creative movement, and drama, for the early
childhood learner. Long after the cover of the book is closed the child will remember the climb up the stairs, the peep through
the roof, lowering the man who couldn't walk, and Jesus telling the man to stand up and pick up his mat. Reviewed by Richard

Step off is a really cool book. It pushes your faith to the limit. I loved how it was written like a magazine. Not a lot of
words to bore you to death. But it really made my relationship with God stronger. I highly recommend it, but do it with a
friend, it will really help.

This book was awesome. As I worked through it I learned so much about myself, and the things that influence me. Especially
during the 21 day media fast. It was really hard. I would encourage anyone to get this book if they're daring enough to
want to learn more about themselves.

to do so. He is 8 years old and they seem like the reading level is made for children his age.

My 2nd grade son loves all of the Ready Freddy! books. The stories really speak to him. Super Secret Valentine was one I thought
he might turn his nose up at because of the subject matter, but that was not the case at all. He was more interested in this
one than some of the others. We also love Junie B. Jones & Magic Treehouse.

My daughter loves this book. She loves pointing to all the different items in the illustrations, and learning what they are
and how they relate to the story. The illustrations are lovely, charming, so it is easy for a child to enjoy. Some books can
be harsh. It has the standard opposites in rhyme which helps the children learn the story and makes them reading ready.

This is a wonderful book with unique, lovely illustrations. The story, a day in the life of a family - a sister, brother,
mother and father, is told in lyrical poetry and stunning pictures. Our 20 month old son has loved this book since we bought
it about five months ago. Our 19 month old niece loves it too. They want us to read it to them over and over. It is that
type of book that adults also look forward to reading. This is a classic.

I chose this book for my first child because it was one of the few that allowed an opportunity for entries regarding prenatal
time as well as the early childhood years. It is mostly non-sectarian with titles such as "Special Holiday Memories" instead
of mentioning specific holidays. It is also a binder, so pages can be easily added. I have been given several books for the
baby I am currently expecting, but will most likely buy this one again instead.

This is one of the most satisfying projects I've ever worked on. The story grew out of conversations I had with my father
about his upbringing in Selma, Alabama. I want you to enjoy my book, but more importantly, I urge you to sit down and talk
with your parents, your kids, other members of your family and discover their stories.

it is reassuring in the telling.Thne tambourine is a special piece of magic which has a lot of appeal. Highly recommended!

In "Taos Pueblo Painted Stories", Native American artist and Taos Pueblo resident Jonathan Warm Day draws from his childhood
memories of Pueblo life in a visual presentation that follows the Taos Pueblo community through the fours seasons. The result
is an impressive combination of imagery and story blended together to describe a culture of traditions and customs. "Taos
Pueblo Painted Stories" is highly recommended for readers of all ages and would make a welcome, timeless, and enduringly popular
addition to family, school and community library Native American collections

Anyone who ever has been to Taos Pueblo will feel a wave of nostalgia upon seeing Jonathan Warm Day's paintings - and those
who haven't been there will want to go. Accompanied by an evocative text written by the artist, each painting depicts an aspect
of pueblo life, following the calendar through the four seasons. Rich in color and texture, Jonathan's paintings draw the
viewer into the scene. One can almost hear the stream as it ripples through the pueblo, smell the burning pinon, taste the
hot bread fresh from a traditional kiva oven. This is the work of an artist deeply connected with his subject, and his affection
for Taos Pueblo is apparent in every brush stroke, every word.

My daughter has a really great teacher, Mrs. Cole. She helped us discover our daughter's reading disability and really just
went above and beyond to help her overcome it. Now my daughter is doing great. So we wanted to come up with a way to thank
Mrs. Cole. We looked around for a way to say thank you and found this book (ironically by googling "thank you teacher") we
went to a store and looked at a copy with our daughter and it was perfect. It is a very sincere and personal way to show
teachers, who never really get the praise they deserve, a little appreciation. Our daughter included a special "thank you"
of her own with the book.

I was just at a huge retail bookseller yesterday looking at Thanksgiving books that I could read to my homeschooled Kindergartener.
There is a large selelction of bland books about thanksgiving. The wise child will say, "But, WHO are we thanking?" after
reading most of those books. THIS book answers that question...GOD! Yes, while it seems politically incorrect, the truth
is that the first settlers to our country WERE religious pilgrims, seeking a safe haven from religious persecution. This
book is a gem in a PC sea of bland, corny thanksgiving day books for children. Children will enjoy the simple story; those
just getting into chapter books will enjoy feeling successful reading a 'big kid' chapter book; and they will enjoy seeing
how God blesses the faithful when they endure through trying times and complete hard work. This is a great book that your
early elementary aged children will enjoy and can become a traditional read aloud for your family on the holiday!

Wonderful easy to read chapter book dealing with everything from the Mayflower and Speedwell to Squanto in a very realistic,
historical manner. As a first grade teacher, I have found this book to be both interesting for young readers as well as informative.
It differs than other "Thanksgiving" books in that although it is most sympathetic to the abilities of the reader, it provides
a very compassionate, "adult" look into our history. It is much more than just a "pilgrims, Mayflower, Indians and turkey"
story book! It is an excellent resource for the home and the classroom!END

I can appreciate well-illustrated picture books that also educate children. Thanksgiving, A Harvest Celebration is a fine
example of how to teach history to kids through storytelling. This is one of those illustrated books that could be read aloud
like a story to younger children, but also suitable for a 10 year old reader. The style and difficulty level is about similar
to the American Girl books, although a bit shorter.
This book tells the story of the Pilgrims' first year in America through the eyes of a fictional girl, Ellen Chilton. We learn about the voyage across the ocean, the establishment of a colony and the bitter hardships that these people faced throughout their first winter. Then we meet the Native Americans through Ellen, get a glimpse of how they taught the colonists valuable survival skills and befriended them. Finally, we witness the celebration at Harvest time, in which the people all came together to feast in gratitude to God for His provision and protection.
Thanksgiving, A Harvest Celebration is one of those rare modern kids' Thanksgiving books that doesn't get sappy or cartoony; we see a realistic portrayal of likely historical events, both joyful and sad, although on the other hand we are spared the more gruesome details that would be cause for concern in a children's book. And here's something else you don't see much of nowadays ¡V direct acknowledgement to God as the "reason for the season" so to speak. God was, after all, a big factor in the Pilgrims' decision to come to America in the first place as well as their sustainer throughout. "Thanksgiving" is the name of the harvest feast celebration that was first in God's honor, to *give Him thanks*. Whether or not you're a believer, it is strange to avoid or cover up that simple historical fact, and I'm thankful that this book doesn't try.
So if you're looking for a way to teach your children about the original Thanksgiving, I can recommend this book as a great start in that direction. Adults may even learn a thing or two along the way :).

If you're looking for a book about Thanksgiving that presents the story in a respectful, Christian way, this is it. The main
character is fictional, but the rest of the story is fact all the way. Beautiful illustrations give the book a soft, autumn
feeling. And the author ties it all to why we celebrate Thanksgiving--not because it's a sweet story about some lucky English
people, but because we want to offer our thanks and praise to God for providing for us.
