Author/coach/teacher Karen Ronney's book, "Proud Parents' Guide to Raising Athletic, Balanced, and Coordinated Kids; A Lifetime of Benefit in Just 10 Minutes a Day" is a must-read for anyone interested in a child's future. This extremely helpful compilation of information for parents (and caregivers) of young kids is a book that i wish had been written when my parents were raising ME so they could use it and learn from it! Ronney's easy-to-understand language and easy-to-implement skills/ideas make helping a child become the best he/she can be much less challenging and a lot more fun! I have recommended this book to many of my friends and will continue to sing the praises of this book. It fills a much-needed void.

All I can say is WOW! My 18month old son was diagnosed with delayed motor skills which I was sending him to physical therapy for, when I came across this book. The activities are extremely easy to do and after 10 minutes a day for 2 weeks myself and the physical therapist couldn't get over his progress!! I then started doing the drills with my 5 year old daughter who has no motor skills problems and her agility and balance has improved dramatically. This book is a must for children of all ages!!!!!!!!!

My 3-year-old granddaughters can't get enough of this book - we read it at bedtime, over and over, every night. They love the pictures and the rhymes, and recite them along with me. When is Simon Davies going to give up more of the same?

Great fun awaits you in "Pucker Up, Buttercup"

This book not only contains bright, spectacular illustrations, but includes large flaps and a variety of textures that will keep a toddler's interest and contains humor that a older sibling would enjoy. The theme is about kisses which makes it a perfect choice for Valentine's Day or any occasion.

A must read for new parents!

I bought this book for a "new Dad" friend of mine. The book is informative and funny. Written in a straight forward language, it will teach you and make you laugh. I would highly reccommend this book not only for new dads, but also for new moms. Perfect for anybody that enjoys sports. The part about registering for baby stuff is priceless. And I have decided to go with a zone defense for my next holiday party. Definitely five stars! And when your kid gets a little older and inquisitive buy him Mercer's book "Smash It, Crash It, Launch It". I own it and rate it five stars too.

I bought this book for my husband and he loved it. He read it over the first weekend he had it. I have seen him open it several times since then. I have read parts of it and it is very funny and informative. It is written for guys, but I really enjoyed it myself. I think any new parent could benefit from it. The hints and advice are clear and easy to understand. This book and Be Prepared are the best dad books I have seen. They both combine humor and being helpful.

Max is Afraid to Go to His New School

Review Date: 2007-07-11
"Moving to a new neighborhood is not easy. But Max got used to the new house and he met new friends. It wasn't until he had to go to a new school that he decided to hide." -- From the book

Max was terrified to start a new school. He imagined terrible things, such as his new teacher asking him to count to 30 or stand on one leg. Emmy, his sympathetic sister, thinks that practicing going to a new school would help him feel better--so she and Max visit Quetzal and the other dragons.

Max and Emmy wish on a dragon scale and end up in Dragon Land. Zak and Wheezie, the two-headed dragon, greet the siblings. "C'mon, let's go to Quetzal's School in the Sky", exclaims Wheezie.

Max is encouraged by Quetzal to try new things, as well as adapting dragon exercises so HE could do them (for example, Max can't breathe fire like the rest of the dragons--but he CAN eat salty chips and super-spicy red salsa and "breathe" some steam!)

This is an excellent book for children first starting school, or those who have moved and will begin attending a new school. However, my son was in neither of those situations (I homeschool), but he found this book interesting--asking me to read to him over and over again. (Now, he can read it on his own!)

If your child is a fan of the Dragon Tales cartoons on PBS, they'll no doubt love Quetzal and the Cool School!

I am glad that I got this book, because it talks about moving and having a new school. This is just in time for our move and my oldest daughter's first year of kindergarten and youngest daughter's first year of preschool. I like how Max finds solutions to overcome his problems without throwing tantrums and how Quetzal encourages Max to "try something new". This is a really good book, and I am very glad I bought it!

This is a wonderful little book!
Instill common sense in your self and children. Bring back memories to your Grandfather and Grandmother. This is a wonderful little collection! It is my understanding that these are from the little words of Wisdom that Johnny Gruelle had published in the paper. Simply fantastic!

When I read this book to my 6 year old boy and my 9 year old girl, they both sat absolutely still and quiet. This is amazing (especially for the 6 year old). When I was finished my son wanted more and even wanted some of the "magic rocks". They both wanted to go into the attic and explore all the stuff up there. Unfortunately we do not have neat stuff in our attic. I would recommend this book to everyone with an imagination. We look forward to more books on these characters?? :)

I have read this book over and over to my seven year old son. He has since started telling ME stories. What a wonderful way to help a childs imagination. The storyline was interesting and kept my son focused and waiting in anticipation for the next page to be turned. The pictures are extrodinary. They are so life like and fun. You can see them over and over and find something new each time you read the book. I recommend this book to any parent or educator that wants to spark that imagination that helps children build their future.

Excellent book can be used for intermediate grades and up and a great reference especially for the visual learner. . The colorful layout sparked the curiosity of a high school senior to request to take it home several times and to Google more information on the circulatory and muscular systems. This book is evidence of the power of the printed word and colorful informative pictures.

Engaging question and answer format for young readers.

My daughter (now 5) and I have enjoyed this book over the last year and it has helped her understanding of reuse and why we need to do it. It as also improved our recycling (we now have a box of scrap paper for her to use and I'm using more plastic containers and less plastic wrap). The game seems silly but she seems to enjoy it and learn from it. I doubt we'll play it more than a few times more (less than 10 times total).

I whole heartedly agree with the above reviewer! Have a tissue nearby, I sat down and read half the book in one sitting. It was a a beautifully written, therapeutic, enlightening read that I would venture to say all children of LDS divorce should have this as required reading. It made me deal with deep feelings I didn't know I had. The writer seems to take her experience and make it parallel to your own somehow. It was like it was reading a book written by me, for me, from a higher vantage point later in my life. I am a returning patron of this book -- buying copies today for friends of similar family backgrounds. If the author ever reads this review-- might a say a big thank you from all of us whove made better sense of our grief in the context of the gospel, because of your literary talent and experience.

I found that this book really stated what I felt about my own family and dealing with divorce. The author shares with you her experience of divorce and shares some things she did to get her through this hard time. She has also stated many wonderful, helpful ideas about how she dealt with divorce better. You may want to have a tissue near by because this book will dig deep inside you.

For the young history student in your circle, Revolutionary War Days by David C. King is an absolute must purchase! It will enhance the study of history by encouraging a lively interest in the everyday lives of two families of the day: the Logans of Virginia and the Wentworths of Philadelphia. By sharing in the work, play and creativity of two children, young readers will enjoy bringing that past to life, themselves!

What better way is there to learn about the past?
