This wonderful, European style wordless picture board book goes about the routine of a small child's day. Soft illustrations make it a favorite bedtime story for my toddler, he loves the cat that reappears throught the pictures and always notices that it is Daddy who reads the stories at nighttime. A worthy addition to any child's library.

This is an excellent story for children who enjoy picture books. The story takes children on a trip through the farm where a new foal has been born. A friendly bee takes the new foal on an introductory visit throughout the farm where they visit with the various animals who live nearby. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful and very enjoyable to see.

I would take this book with me if my house caught on fire. I keep it by my bed! This outstanding treasure of children's literature is a too well-kept secret--a captivating story for readers of all ages. A rare treat for the senses, its descriptions are so vivid the reader can feel the wind and breathe the air. A story of deep pathos--quiet, not high adventure, but with a main character who is completely endearing. A beautiful story which resonates the remarkable skill of it's Newbery-winning author.

While browsing through Amazon the title of this book
Caught my attention and I searched within for a peak.
Somehow it drew my deeper interests. So I ordered the book out of curiosity.
This story brought me to wonderful warm tears. It reminded me of the wonder of motherhood and the mysteries within. I was amazed that a man could write in such depth to touch gently the within of a woman. It was fantastic! I became attached to the baby telling the story as if it were my own and within my own womb. I felt once again the warmth of motherhood and the feelings which pregnancy brings
upon a mother and her bonding with the child growing inside. I laughed at the humor and was awed at the depth I was drawn to perceive. The author's ability to comprehend is dramatic and his perceptions right on.
The illustrations are child-like perceptions that of themselves also depicted a story. Mr. Vincents' use of art he created is heartfelt.
I recommend this book to all women and especially to
all carrying a blessing. I believe this book could easily
be used as a tutor for teenage children for sharing how and why children are conceived and arrive into this world. In a true and comforting way of sharing the answers all children one day ask of their parents.
ABSOLUTLEY A PRO-LIFE BOOK!
I admit, I have now read it at least four times through and still find warm tears and joy arrive each time. Wow!
I also have purchased and read Mr. Vincent's book Hray-Mah Jesus is Coming! My curiosity once more...This writing brought me to realize the Simplicity of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and I was a Christian before reading it, and feel now I am still a Christian but with new bright knowledge and perspective in what Jesus taught and shared to all humans. His book drew me to deeply read the Bible in desire of thirst for the truth, and I was amazed how the author enticed me to go read my own bible and read for myself the things Jesus left for each of us to easily discover. This was a great learning. I am looking forward to reading his other books. Clearly, this is Christianity as it was really meant to be: Simple and direct...and based only on Jesus Christ of Nazareth as our Lord Savior. Amen!

This is a 365-day book of devotions for children. The book is divided into themes, including Walking with Jesus, Honesty, Worry, Loving Your Family, Trials, etc. Each page contains a verse, several simple paragraphs that interpret the verse and a short prayer. I believe this book can be enjoyed by children of all ages, although the reading level is probably more appropriate for children in the latter elementary grades through middle school. Our two children often take turns reading the devotions to our family and then we discuss how we can apply the meaning to our own life. This is a very helpful book for learning about God's Word.

This is a very age-appropriate devotional for pre-teen boys and girls. Each day's devotion is a story with a topic to which kids can relate. It is comparable to other children's devotionals such as The One Year Book of Devotions for Kids. This is a good devotional to get kids into reading and becoming familiar with their Bibles.

This book really helped me and many of my friends with getting organized. With lives that are too busy, I needed tips to get my home in order. These are real, practical step-by-step ideas. You can incorporate that which works for you or all of it. I did not grow up with this kind of structure and needed help. I found it through this book. This book is full of wonderful ideas in being a great keeper of the home. I would recommend it to EVERYONE. Now I have more time to focus on the important things in life, like my family and time with God.
A great hands on guide to simplifying household work!

Yara is a great public speaker, and the book is true to life. She writes in a very easy to read manner. When you pick up the book you will find so many ideas, you won't know if you should finish the book, or start putting them into practice right away. She has some great ideas for making your household run smoothly, & decrease the guilt we all feel when someone drops in unannouced. The book is geared toward Sabbath keeping, but this book would be very helpful for any person who wants a smooth running household. I have put many of her ideas to practice in my home, and turned my most hectic day into one of my most laid-back days. This book is well worth the cost & effort to locate it! I hope this book changes your life as much as it has changed mine. Thanks Yara!

Title:OL' MIDDLER SAVES THE DAY
Author: Timothy A. Weeks
Ol' Middler the mullet is searching for his friend Goldie. He looks far and wide, hundreds of miles from his home in Cook Bayou, but his quest proves more difficult than he had expected. Little does he know that Goldie has gone on a journey of his own, one fraught with danger and tragedy. But even more trouble is brewing in the Gulf, and Middler remembers the lesson he once learned: "Act fast when danger lurks, in order to prevail." He knows that he must find Goldie quickly.
Young children will enjoy this story as it illustrates the strength of friendship. No distance is too far for Middler to travel, no danger is too much, to stop him from searching for Goldie. They will be eager to see the result of his quest, wondering from page to page whether or not Goldie and Middler will be reunited.
But this story also encompasses a number of other topics. Overcoming adversity, selflessness, and helping others despite having your own problems are just a few. Toward the end we see what friendship can accomplish, and how positive motivation and support are important factors in overcoming loss and sadness.
Weeks uses a well-known current event as part of the catastrophic trouble which befalls Goldie and Silver. Though he never names his storm Katrina, its terrible effects and its destruction in New Orleans make it obvious. It seems an excellent inclusion to the story, as most children will be able to relate to such a recent incident, particularly children in the Gulf region where the story takes place.
A blend of photographs and painted images make up the illustrations for Ol' Middler Saves the Day, creating a visual world that is real while containing the fantasy aspects of a child's imagination. Each character in the story has its own distinctive elements: Middler's sea hat, Goldie's glasses and gold tongue, and Silver's pink lips and eyelashes. These features help distinguish between them and are quite useful for infusing a bit of personality into the characters. At the end of the book is an illustrated map, which follows each separate journey in the story and helps to better demonstrate just how far Middler goes to help his friend.
Timothy A. Weeks is originally from the Florida Pandhandle and has written a previous book in this series called The Wise Mullet of Cook Bayou.
Recommended for young readers and those who love picture books. Reviewer: C. Noël Rivera, Allbooks Review.

I cannot think of a better way to help children make sense of the Katrina devastation than its sequel "Ol' Middler Saves the Day: A Mullet Buddy Homecoming." [Review of "The Wise Mullet of Cook Bayou": This is the adventure of three mullet - friends but with different personalities - as they brave through the elements and the frying pan in their journey through the Florida Bayous. Danger is everywhere and beautifully drawn: sharks, turtles, pelicans and fishermen stalk the book's oversized, colorful pages. Loosely based on a fable by Rumi, the wise mullet's tale has become a Panhandle classic.]

Magraret Laurence, The Olden Days Coat (Tundra, 1979)
Why do I continue to read kids' books at the age of thirty-six? In my more cynical moments, I think it's to increase the count on the number of books I read per year, But every once in a while, I stumble across something like Randall Jarrell's The Bat-Poet or Margaret Laurence's The Olden Days Coat, and these books remind me that things that are written for, published for, and marketed to the under-twelve set are sometimes able to combine the literary weight of the work of a great writer with that certain magic that is the exclusive province of the children's book.
The late Margaret Laurence is, of course, one of Canada's foremost authors, and left us on Earth with a body of her work that is, quite simply, stunning. From the perspective of overall quality and beauty, the complete corpus of Laurence's work is matched by that of few authors who write/wrote in the English language, living or dead. The Olden Days Coat, weighing in at a slim twenty-six pages (with roughly half of those full-page illustrations), is not just a short story; it is a distillation of Margaret Laurence's craft.
The story is a simple one, and oft-heard. Sal goes off to spend Christmas at her grandmother's house. While digging around in a chest of old things, she finds an old coat. When she puts it on, she's transported back in time, and meets a girl her own age. I'm pretty sure you can see where this is going already; why finish? As with any plot that's well-used, there are all sorts of possibilities for the writing to slip into cliché. It never happens. Laurence is razor-sharp here, her prose sparkling as fiercely as it does from every page of The Diviners, her finest moment.
A fantastic piece of work, once that I'll be buying for my own children. Its only true failing is that I didn't want it to end. **** ½

The illustrations were funny and beautiful. My son could recite the book before he even started Kindergarten.

I am a second grade teacher who read this aloud multiple times in my classroom last year. All my students loved it. It was a crowd pleaser every time. The students were so eager to read it themselves that our classroom needed multiple copies! It can carry you from the first day of school to the last.

My toddler class absolutely loved this book! I found myself reading it over and over and over to them. They loved the rhythm..they'd even get up and dance while I sang it to them (because hey! you just have to sing it!) I may need to buy a new copy for next Christmas..this one is almost worn out!

We turned this beautiful rendition of the twelve days of Christmas into our Childrens Christmas program. It adapted easily to the stage. We made the costumes for 50+ children, and had them build the scene as they sang Pingry's song. The story is beautiful and heartwarming, and puts a reverent emphasis on Christmas that all chldren can relate to; from 2 to 12 years of age.
