Childrens Days Books

I was in a Sunday School class that used this book. I have been looking for it ever since, so I could buy myself a copy.

This is the kind of book you can use every day, not just for your own children, but for your friends, for other family members, for yourself! Grounded with scriptural references, this is a very user friendly, time-appropriate book.

John Lithgow is a genius! I purchased this book along with his other children books and activity items, as well as his CDs. I love them all - great songs, educational for children to learn about instruments, love and lots and lots of fun to dance to!! I highly recommend his books and stuff.

Lithgow has done it again with another great book to keep you kids both entertained and creative. His rainy day tips range from origami folding to mud painting to "po-art-ry," and there are so many that even the most obstinately bored child will find something to stimulate her mind. The book comes with a kit that contains all the hard-to-find items required for the projects, so parents won't have to drive around and hunt them down. I would recommend this to any parent with kids who love to have fun.

Ages 2-6 will find here a gentle story of a young bear wakened by a full moon, who discovers things alive in the night. The wordless picture book provides dark yet engaging illustrations as it follows Boswell's patrol of the premises.

This is another clever book and character. You can sit down with your child and use his or her imagination. Boswell, a very endearing little bear, goes about the home inside and outside taking care of things left undone. Every parent would love to have a child like Boswell. He even gives each of his parents a kiss goodnight as they lay asleep--a role reversal that is very effective with this story. If you like Carl you'll like Boswell.

Frank Asch's simple illustrations are so soothing to children. My som loves to read his stories over and over. I don't mind reading them because they are so pleasing to look at. This book shows Ben bear who has painted a picture of his mother at school. Ben is bringing the picture home to her when he meets with many friends. Each friend offers a suggestion for improving the picture. In the end, the portrait of mama bear has the eyes of an owl, the teeth of an alligator, the mane of a lion and the neck of a girraf. Naturally, mama bear thinks it is the most beautiful picture ever and hangs it up. This is a very sweet story!

This book is so funny.I want to make a bear like that.What I need is paint,paper,paintbursh,and animals.

I've added this to the list of books I recommend for teaching simple science lessons in Kindergarten. If you have the kids bring in shells it could be a great "Sharing Day" time.

Also can create a good discussion on how we show love to each other.

Great story that shows a healthy father-daughter relationship. It could give some good ideas of ways to spend time with your kids.

Also, I like learning to i.d. seashells while you read the story. If you think about it, each shell on each page goes along with what is going on in the story on that page. We bought some shells at the craft store to match up with the shells from the book. Next time we go to the beach maybe I can name some of the shells I find!

Also teaches that love is a behavior, it shows in the way you act towards each other. It isn't always a feeling, but it is always in the way you act.

We love this book!!! The descriptions of sounds make it all real and the kids love the silliness of Bumpa. For them it's a great adventure that never gets old and always makes them laugh

This is one of the best children's books that we have found. Our son (age 2)simply can't get enough of it. We are currently averaging 4-5 readings per day and the wonderful thing is that it hasn't gotten stale yet for us either! The rhythm of the prose is excellent and the word choices inventive. The illustrations are vivid and interesting.

This is my 14 month old son's favorite book and has been for months. He loves to push the button to make the kissing sound. We read this book at least once every day and the button still works! Every page has something to feel. The first page has a curtain to pull up and another page has a little blankie. We have many many books and he always chooses his Pat the Bunny book. I highly recommend it.

We purchased this book a week before moving our boys (ages 2 and 3) from a small family day care to a large childcare center. It gave us a way to start our dicsussion about what the new childcare would be like. Now we use it to talk about their days ("Mommy, we did that today!"). Great pictures!

We've borrowed this book from the library, twice, and are now purchasing it. My son, 2, who's been in family day care since he was 1, loves the book and has chosen his favorite kids out of it. "He'd be fun to play with." He loves the rhyming text, also. The book might, however, be more properly entitled, Busy at Preschool Head to Toe as most of the kids pictured are preschool age rather than infants or toddlers, who are more typically seen in day care. Excellent book to show him what he can look forward to in preschool, including the greater number of children and activities, and the regular schedule. I also appreciate that kids of many ethnic backrounds are pictured.

I love this book. It starts you out with simple exercises and when your finished with the program you can easily move on to the tapes. I recommend this book for women of all ages. I'm 50.You will see results in as little as two weeks. It reduces stress by stretching all those large muscle groups. And the toning is beyond belief. Buy it and enjoy.

Determined to lose weight, I bought this book when I was 21, and I gave the program 30 days. I noticed results within 2-3 weeks and by the end of the summer, I had dropped 25 lbs and two waist sizes. It's a great program that's easy to commit to and easy to work into your hectic schedule. The book is well illustrated and easy to follow. I've misplaced my book over the years and now I'm buying it again to get back on the program. I strongly recommend it. It gave me the confidence to begin an exercise program and stick to it.

I am surprised that SLJ panned this title. I personally think it is excellently crafted and very age-appropriate for grade K-3 for teaching the spirit of community service. The main character approaches the service projects the way a kid might, and she works through her commitment to the project with the spirit of a kid. The book is not preachy and definitely not a downer, like "oh, look at these poor people and their lousy lives.." like some books that are intended to create sympathy do. The people who come to the church for the community Thanksgiving dinner are portrayed as normal people with dignity and the story does not create a sharp delineation between the children who are doing the service from the children who are receiving the service.
I am using this title with my Brownie Girl Scout troop to teach them about how children can go about helping in bigger projects that benefit the whole community.

The Can-Do Thanksgiving offers young children, their parents, and/or their teachers a vehicle in which to begin to explore the subject of homelessness, hunger, and the needy. Its strenth is that it's written in a format that kids can understand and have fun with. It will also give a child a feeling that perhaps in their own way they can do something. After all, we ask our kids donate cans of food to feed the hungry but it often ends there. Well, the cans do go somewhere and each one can help someone, somehow, in its own way. In The Can-Do Thanksgiving children will experience this first hand.
