I bought this book for a girlfriend when she got pregnant. I also bought this book when I became pregnant. It is very informative and not only gives you relevant information for the stage you are currently in, but also gives you photo's of what your body may look like and that of you unborn child. The photo's of real unborn children are fantastic. It gives you an idea of what you can expect, and things that you may like to ask your doctor. I would recommend this to all parents who are expecting. It gives a great insight to the men who miss out so much during pregnancy. By adding your personal information it becomes a real keepsake.

Beautiful Artwork, Wonderful Book!

I didn't get this from the bookstore till I was about 3 months pregnant, I only wish I would've gotten it at the very beginning. The artwork in it is beautiful, the pictures of the pregnant women, etc... It is definetely a keepsake I will pass on to my daughter. And when I have more children, I will definetely buy it at the very beginning of the pregnancy. A must have for moms-to-be!

Princess for a Day (All Aboard Reading)
My precocious, kindergarten granddaughter so loved this book; vivid pictures, just right reading level. After we did a "picture walk" she wanted to read it so I took turns with her. And, as children often do, I heard, "Let's read that again, Grandma."

Very cute story for little princesses.

My 4 year old loves princesses and she enjoys this cute little book about Jessica, a young lady who likes to play make-believe princess. She even has a tea party with her other princess friends. A delightful book for little princesses everywhere!

I bought this for my 3 year old daughter who is all girl. She is just like Princess Jessica and loves to dress up and play pretend. It even has a real world older sister who makes fun of Princess Jessica for dressing up but the young girl stands up for herself and has a ball.

I can't tell you how many times my daughter has gone out in public in dress up clothes or wearing all her jewelry (just like Princess Jessica) but I've learned to be proud of her individuality and style.

Author/coach/teacher Karen Ronney's book, "Proud Parents' Guide to Raising Athletic, Balanced, and Coordinated Kids; A Lifetime of Benefit in Just 10 Minutes a Day" is a must-read for anyone interested in a child's future. This extremely helpful compilation of information for parents (and caregivers) of young kids is a book that i wish had been written when my parents were raising ME so they could use it and learn from it! Ronney's easy-to-understand language and easy-to-implement skills/ideas make helping a child become the best he/she can be much less challenging and a lot more fun! I have recommended this book to many of my friends and will continue to sing the praises of this book. It fills a much-needed void.

All I can say is WOW! My 18month old son was diagnosed with delayed motor skills which I was sending him to physical therapy for, when I came across this book. The activities are extremely easy to do and after 10 minutes a day for 2 weeks myself and the physical therapist couldn't get over his progress!! I then started doing the drills with my 5 year old daughter who has no motor skills problems and her agility and balance has improved dramatically. This book is a must for children of all ages!!!!!!!!!

I bought this book for my four-year old daughter and she loves it! It has pretty illustrations and it's also educational. Although [...] says it's for ages 4-8, the Usborne website states 2-years old and up. I love the Usborne books because they are so educational and engaging to look at, which doesn't hurt!

My daughter received the Snowy Day as an early Christmas present this year-which is an AWESOME book. Because of that, I requested the Rainy Day, as well. These books are wonderful-amazon recommends for 4-8, but my 2 year old loves them. My daughter has always loved books over any other toy, though. They are made of a heavier-duty paper then the typical book and the cover is a little bit puffy, so they are durable enough to put up with a toddlers inquisitive hands. These books explain some of the science behind what's happening incorporated into an entertaining story. What a GREAT idea! AND the illustrations are wonderful, too!

This is the best book of it's kind that I have ever seen. My daughter and I love to make all of the things in the book. They are easy and alot of fun. The bath paints have saved me a fortune, because we would buy them and go through them so quickly. This way I can make alot for very cheap and with her help she is learning her colors at the same time. The book is wonderful, highly recommended !

I had originally checked this book out of the library and didn't want to return it! So I bought it! I kept paging through the book and thinking "I should write this one down, and this, and this . . ." I would have written down every single activity! I keep it on the shelf next to the cook books, but most of the stuff isn't for eating. We liked the recipe for making sandcastles more permanant, how to color sugar for cakes or cookies, coloring sand, making paste, making your own stickers, terrific bubble solution, safe cleaning solutions for around the house and something I've been looking for. . . a recipe for making pretzels!

This is a must-have book, especially if you have kids of your own or you teach children. A terrific reference for all the craft projects you need to know to be a fun parent &/or teacher.

Although you may think this book is for young kids, it can really appeal to the teenaged set since it gives the concoctions needed for science projects, art or sculpting, making fun or weird food, theatrical makeup for acting, clowning or holloween.

Don't grow-up without it!

Ideas for children and adults alike, this book is wonderful!

Rainy Day Activity has plenty of ideas to keep kids and adults busy, no matter what the weather! The recipes for making clay, bubbles and other fun stuff has kept my daughter happily occupied. Her favorite recipe is for fake scars- you have to try it to believe it! There are many, many ideas here that cannot be found anywhere else. A fresh approach to "Mom, I'm bored!"

I have to say i am a little biased in my opinion about the book....my oldest daughter Lauren is the author of the poem in the front of the book...of which i am very proud...my younger daughters Emily age 71/2 and Katie age 3 absolutely love the book...Emily is a beginner reader and loves to read the book to her younger sister..it not only helps her with her reading it encourages her younger sister to do the same as well as teaches them about listening to your parents and the events that follow all your choices...I am trying to place the book in Emily's school library of which i am certain will make a wonderful addition. Emily is already anxious to read more about Roger and Rosie, of which I am glad to hear her say...Mom...i want to read it again! We need more books to stimulate reading in our children. Thanks again for this wonderful addition.

I am a Speech Therapist for the Lafourche Parish School Board and enjoy reading this book to all my speech impaired children! (They also love it!) It is a wonderful book to teach vocabulary, problem solving, critial thinking, predicting possible outcomes and comprehension skills. The book takes you on a journey that is taken by 2 little raccoons. This journey is taken after their mother tells them to stay inside their home while she is away. The 2 explore the outside world alone and learn about different dangers. They are very scared and realize a very valuable lesson of listening to their mother. They are also taught that dangers are harmful and should be avoided. I recommend this book to all speech therapists, teachers and parents! Your kids will love to hear about this wonderful adventure!

A Very Good Life Learning Tool for Kids

Review Date: 1999-06-16
I consider this book to be a 'very good life learning tool' to assist parents in teaching kids the difference in wrong and right. In order to accomplish that mission in teaching through reading, one must create a character (roger the raccoon) that will capture and hold the attention of a child. A raccoon is an animal that is easily identified by a child due to the black rings around its eyes. The character must be unique for that specific animal to be identified as the only one of its kind (red-banded tail); such as Big Bird. When a child thinks of Roger, he or she will remember the lessons learned by Roger and his life experiences that relate to the child that is reading or listening to the book being read.

What a concept... a valentine's card that want's to be loved... not as deep as the Velveteen Rabbit perhaps, but T.Smythe's illustrations put a lot of soul into an otherwise ridiculous premise... it's a great book to bring out for kids on valentine's day and it encourages them to be creative and use their imagination--once again thanks to T.Smythe's illustrative flair... she's no novice at this! It's a shame we've been waiting so long to see her work... can't wait to see her next project...

"Sail in the boat with Jesus" is another in the series of action rhyme books designed to make Bible stories fun and exciting for young children. Leena Lane and Chris Saunderson have collaborated again to provide a meaningful learning experience through child friendly illustrations and easy to follow action movements to bring life to the narrative. As the boat rocks the young reader on a stormy sea the child will learn of the security of going to Jesus for help. The stillness that followed the storm resulted in a time of thanksgiving. Important lessons for any child!

Did you ever notice how many of the great Jesus stories involve a boat, or fishing, or water? Kids will love this story (and parents will relate ...) of Jesus having to be woken up to solve the stormy waters problem! With a single gesture, arms flung wide, the waves calm - and all fold hands reverently to show thanks. Another great title in New Day Publishing's Action Rhyme Book series.

Jerome Tiller's Sammy's Day At The Fair: The Digestive System is a children's picturebook with simplified color illustrations akin to what a child can draw, but also offering straightforward information on the digestive system at an intermediatae level. Following one boy's adventures at a fair, it explains why cramming so much unhealthy food into one's digestive system one day can make one feel so bad another day, following the natural course of digestion and the organs involved including stomach, intestines, liver, and more. Deftly illustrated by Paul Tiller, Sammy's Day At The Fair is as instructional and educational as it is enjoyable and reader engaging.

So glad I picked up this book! I learned so much about the digestive system processes in a fun and easy to understand way. Although adults can appreciate this humorous look at the digestive system, it is most useful for kids in middle level. It is an excellent learning tool and the illustrations are awesome. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to learn about the digestive system and have a good time doing it. I would also suggest that teachers consider using this book to aid in their students' learning.
