This book is cute but I'm not sure it illustrates the kids giving up the pacies as well as it could have. I think the pictures are a little too busy and the colors are all a little too pastel to showcase what exactly is going on without having to intently study each illustration.

Each page shows one less child sucking on a pacifier and is pictured doing something they wouldn't otherwise be able to do if they still had a paci in their mouth (i.e. eat a piece of birthday cake, sing a song, ask for a drink, etc.)

With that said, it's a fun book to read and the pictures are cute. I even sing it to my daughter sometimes instead of reading it. I think she likes it but so far it's had no effect on her paci habit, lol!

My son loves this book and watching the Pacifiers disappear. Not much to it, but really good - tells you that these babies "don't need" a paci in order to be happy and smiling!

This book is a must have in my house. I plan on filling it in every year - I have 2 , one for each of my kids. Since I don't have time to scrapbook this is a great way to keep birthday memories special.

One 2 Grow On Birthday Memory Book is nice. The inside is simple with a place to insert a photo and a single line to write the name and date and another line to write a short note. This book is about 5"x8" in size. There are 16 pages so that makes it good for 32 years. Way more than is necessary. Unless your child doesn't leave the house by that time. :)Nonetheless it is a nice book in which to keep your child's birthday memories.

Since I am not proficient in Spanish myself I find this printing of each page in both English and Spanish an easy way to learn and to introduce my grandchildren as well to another language.

Excellent reading for Parent and child. The story covers the tradition of hitting a Pinata for a Birthday Party and what happens when the Pinata is too "Perfect" to hit. The best multicultural book I have seen on the market. My children love it! Great way to introduce a different party tradition to your children. Beautiful illustrations!

Picnic With Piggins, by Jane Yolen was quite a good book. I recommend it to all. I wasn't quite interested in it at first, but I quickly became interested. The book takes a big turn and completely changes your sense of what's going to happen. It's a mystery, and as the book goes, you get to solve it yourself.

The butler has to solve a mystery. -Which You find yourself following along with the process of solving it. Any kid between the ages of 7-12 would like it. Also the descriptive pictures and different sense of vocabulary. Enjoy reading!

The Rabbit Ears pieces were/are unbeatable efforts to use audio/video media to tell tales that are complex and simple at the same time. When our daughter was young these were hard to find, but several of them have entered into her life as important touchstones. And, if it matters, the adults still love them: between the music, the interpreters, & the artists it's difficult to imagine a better way to represent these tales in contemporary media. Not every one is perfect ... but each is far better than anything else you'll see.

This is an adorable story with precious pictures. It relates the adventures of a young mouse, Wilfred, who is celebrating his birthday. His fellow mice plan a pleasant surprise for him, but he'll have to work to get it. I recieved this book as a two-year old, and I am so glad my mother preserved it for me. This is a great book for bedtime, or any time. Young children and adults alike will enjoy the delicate pictures and accompanying text. You will truly enjoy this book!

Kathryn Lasky's Starring Lucille receives Marilyn Hafner's fun drawings as it tells of a pig who gets a tutu from her grandmother and begins practicing for her debut. Her siblings almost ruin her show in this gentle story of rivalry.

One of my kids is crazy about pigs, so...anyway, now she is crazy about ballerinas, too! Very cute story about a little pig who gets a tutu for a birthday present. Is great at presenting sibling rivalry, but I could have done with out the older brother riding his bike through the living room (!), and calling his sister "stupid". Other than that, great book!

The book is delightful to read out loud to small children.

The watercolor illustrations are vibrant and contain so much detail that children spend lots of time finding all of the hidden features.

Makes a great birthday gift for kids.

Zephyr can't wait for her birthday to arrive. Not only will she be another year older, but there will be presents to open and a cake with candles to blow out! Zephyr is so excited she can barely settle down and fall asleep the night before. Finally, it is her birthday. By that afternoon, everything is ready, party favors, cake and balloons. She gleefully answers the doorbell ten times to admit her ten closest friends, all celebrating her birthday. By the time she goes to sleep that night, Zephyr has had the best birthday ever, already dreaming of the next.

Zephyr is certainly surprised when the Birthday Fairy appears on the evening of her party, offering to fulfill one wish. Wasting no time, Zephyr wishes to have her birthday every day! The next day, when Zephyr wakes up, it is her birthday all over again, the party dress, the friends, the present, the cake... all of it just the same. Zephyr is thrilled with this turn of events, so when the Birthday Fairy reappears again the next night, Zephyr announces her new wish right away, "I want it to be my birthday every minute!" The next day begins another full day, of party, presents, friends and cake. That night the over-stimulated little girl is ready for the birthday fairy and has her wish ready, "I want my birthday every minute" and the next night, "I want my birthday every second!" Oh dear, this is getting out of hand. Before she knows it, Zephyr is overwhelmed by too much, too fast, shouting, "Stop this birthday!!!"

Luckily, the Birthday Fairy is close by (she has been very busy on Zephyr's behalf!) and grants her wish. Sighing with relief, Zephyr settles back in her tree fort to contemplate the good sense of celebrating a birthday once a year, one party and one cake at a time. She thinks she understands better why such celebrations are special, something to look forward to and plan for all year long. The illustrations are imaginatively done, snappy drawings of a little girl caught up in the excitement of the moment, surrounded by chaos and way too much of everything, presents, balloons, friends and party favors everywhere. Later, as the sun goes down, Zephyr perches in the backyard tree fort, counting stars in the night sky, happy to be exactly where she is. Luan Gaines/2005.

I have a clear memory of this being the first book I read all the way through as a kid, so I had to buy it for my daughter. The book uses repitition and easy words to teach kids to read.

It's out of print but the used version I bought was in pretty good condition, only the cover was a little discolored.
