Wow!. It is Hilda's birthday and she is sad because she wants to meet her other friends. So they made a Monster Express so that her friends can arrive to her Birthday party. That is not all Boris and Kilmer bought THE COMPLETE HAUNTED HOUSE GUIDE. When Hilda saw her friends she cried. When they went inside Hilda's friends danced around. When Carey's dad entered he said to Boris that" Carey did not know it was a surprise party". He also said[Carey's dad] "He was sorry if they disturbed you". Boris and Hilda said "That it was okay". Then Hilda blew her birthday cake. Then Boris said" That Ben, Annie and Jane proved that this was their best neighborhood"

This is a good book for kids. I'm always telling my son to hurry up. Franklin is trying to get to a birthday party, but on the way he meets his friends which delays him. He found some nice things on the way though. He does make it on time to wish Bear a happy birthday.

Besides having wonderful illustrations, Hurry Up Franklin, wonderfully illustrates a great lesson for children and adults. I am a special education teacher and I use this book to teach children not to procrastinate. Hurry Up Franklin, teaches them to do what they are supposed to do and not stop and play along the way and it comes from one of the most trusted characters in books today...Franklin.

The story is about a boy named Jim. He is having a Birthday party. Jim is not inviting June B. Jones because he dose not like her at all. His mom said he has to invite everybody in room 9 to his birthday party. June B. does not go to the birthday party. She goes over to her grandpa's house and helps him fix the toilet instead.
My favorite part of the story is when June B. Jones nails her door shut. The people who would like this story are people that like funny stories. The people who would not like this story are people who do not like short stories.

Has some interesting papers on comparative Indo-European linguistics

Review Date: 2005-10-04
LINGUISTICS ACROSS HISTORICAL AND GEOGRAPHICAL BOUNDARIES is a 1986 festschrift compiled in honour of Jacek Fisiak on the occasion of his 50th birthday. This is a massive two-volume work, the papers within which cover many different facets of linguistics. As my discipline is comparative Indo-European linguistics, it was the papers in this part of the field that I was most interested in.

I think the most striking paper is Roger Lass' "Words without etyma: Germanic 'tooth'", which shows a major limitation of the comparative method and deflates any enthusiasm that secure etyma can be had for any given word in a daughter language. Witold Manczak's "Germanic and other Indo-European languages" presents a curious method for deciding which daughter languages Germanic is most closely related too by comparing the amount of cognates in a given text, the OCS Slavonic gospels and Wulfila's Gothic translation of the Bible, for instance.

That the collection comes from the 1980s is clear in its obligatory inclusion of a paper on glottalic theory, Winfred Lehmann's "Reflexes of PIE d < t'". Fans of syntax will be interested in Dorothy Disterheft's "Consecutives and serials in Indo-European", which collects data from the rather non-obvious pairing of Old Irish and Hittite. An interesting call for sanity comes with Lyle Campbell's "Cautions about loan words and sound correspondences", where we are urged to remember that languages need neither be very different (many Mayan languages are not) nor very similar (Latin "duo" and Armenian "erk" are non-obvious cognates, but cognates they are) to be related. If any of these papers sound interesting, this collection is worth checking out.

7 Lil Monsters is a good cartoon series that here in U.K. can be watched on POP like any cartoon its repetative and predictable.
Its about a family life and you have got 1 who loves her sports 2 a normal "boy" monster who has a difficult life with his long nose,3 who likes to be someone else for different occasions(Cowboy,US president,A Aausie croco hunter,Sherlock Jones,Austranaut, pirate ect.),4 the stubborn trouble maker who likes to bully his siblings with his brother 5,5 who is always at the side of 4 bullying but is happy and bright,6 who loves her ballet dancing but is up herself because she thinks she is so so beutiful, and 7 whose head can comes of and has a facination with cheese and puppets you have also got the mom who looks like a fairy tale woman very smart and the one who sorts their problems out or manages their base ball games the dad-i dunno who he is he is mentioned by the mom once but never seen maby he is divorced or work 24/7. i HATE the singin bits and like every thing else.
I reccomend this to kids 7-15 as it has morals and long words and bullying is in i would say the books are for babies but not the show i myslf is 12 yrs old and like it and i play violent video games like grand theft auto, wwe, splinter cell, metal gear solid, mission impossible,James Bond 007 ect. so i am not im-MATURE I AM mature

Cary Fagan's MY NEW SHIRT tells of an unwanted yearly birthday gift which somehow winds out in the street thanks to an overactive imagination. Now David is in trouble - and finds himself chasing down the unwanted shirt. Dusan Petricic's illustrations are on the dark side but still intriguing additions to a zany, fun story.

SMILE PROVOKING FAMILY STORY
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2007-09-16

Young David, like many other little boys, loves to go and visit his grandmother, his bubbie. While her apartment is small it always smells of cinnamon, is above an excellent bagel shop, and is spotless. As his mother says, "Bubbie makes cleaning an art," and his father says, "...germs are even afraid to try and come in."

Now, the one day that David does not like to visit Bubbie is his birthday because on every birthday since the day he was born Bubbie has given him a white shirt. It is a stiff white shirt that his parents say makes him look like a gentleman, but it's the sort of shirt that makes him "squirm and pull and shift and twist."

On this birthday David tries very hard to be polite and obeys when he is asked to try it on. However, his good intentions go awry when he closes his eyes and suddenly the shirt is out the window.

What follows is a smile provoking chase throughout the neighborhood as his little dog Pupik runs with the shirt firmly between his teeth.

Youngsters will enjoy the family's antics as they try to catch Pupik and retrieve the shirt. They'll also be pleased with Bubbie's final declaration.

One 2 Grow On Birthday Memory Book is nice. The inside is simple with a place to insert a photo and a single line to write the name and date and another line to write a short note. This book is about 5"x8" in size. There are 16 pages so that makes it good for 32 years. Way more than is necessary. Unless your child doesn't leave the house by that time. :)Nonetheless it is a nice book in which to keep your child's birthday memories.

Picnic With Piggins, by Jane Yolen was quite a good book. I recommend it to all. I wasn't quite interested in it at first, but I quickly became interested. The book takes a big turn and completely changes your sense of what's going to happen. It's a mystery, and as the book goes, you get to solve it yourself.

The butler has to solve a mystery. -Which You find yourself following along with the process of solving it. Any kid between the ages of 7-12 would like it. Also the descriptive pictures and different sense of vocabulary. Enjoy reading!

The Rabbit Ears pieces were/are unbeatable efforts to use audio/video media to tell tales that are complex and simple at the same time. When our daughter was young these were hard to find, but several of them have entered into her life as important touchstones. And, if it matters, the adults still love them: between the music, the interpreters, & the artists it's difficult to imagine a better way to represent these tales in contemporary media. Not every one is perfect ... but each is far better than anything else you'll see.
