Mary-Kate and Ashley's reputation is boring! They may be more fun for young readers, but then some of the content would be too mushy-gushy! I encourage you to rent their stuff from a library instead of buy it! If they realize that their sales are dropping enough, then they will stop making their products sooo extremely boring! Besides, who wants to spend so much money on boring books? I think they've gone extreme with all of their book series. They need to finish some of them off. They have these different book series:
Sweet 16-13 books (book #14 on the way)
So Little Time-14 books (book #15 on the way)
Two of a Kind-33 books (book #34 on the way)
Mary-Kate and Ashley-In action! 8 books

None of the Olsen books I have ever read disappoint me, and this book was like all the others. It's very entertaining, the conflicts are realistic, and you get to know Mary Kate and Ashley as more than cute twins, but young women who are growing up! I recomend this book for any girl - I am 14 and I still read the books!

a great book!!

This book is about may-kate and Ashley turning 16. they want to have the best Sweet 16 ever! Their dad is a concert specialist(I think) and he met Rave's( thier fave. band) planner!!! the best part is that when he heard about the twin's sweet 16, he voulenterd to help plan it as a favor to thier father!

Thier soooo excited. They decide they want it at thier house, with 50 girls invited... well that's what Ashley thinks...
First MK, said she wanted an all girl party, but then she got a boyfriend. She invited him thinking she could tell Ashley she changed her mind.Little did she know Ashley alredy told William(the planer) about her idea( the all girl party).
M-K cant tell her boyfriend he's uninvited... then ashley gets a b/f! the worst part.. William alredy sent out the invatations!!!
Read the book to find out all the info.!!!

Review Date: 2004-04-26
Mary-Kate and Ashley Sweet 16 Perfect Summer by Emma Harrison is a great book about a road trip and the girls both have jobs at the Music Fest. The book is about when Mary Kate and Ashley go on a road trip to a Music Fest after they turn sixteen. When they found out they were going they were so excited they were jumping up and down screaming.
The main characters in the book are Mary Kate, Ashley, Brian, Penny, their parents and their friend Don. One thing that happened at the beginning of the book is that they actually found out they were going to the festival. Another part of the book was that they left their house to start their road trip. Once they were there they meet their dad's friend Don who makes music videos. Those are some of the things that happened in the book.
I like this book a lot. I like this book because Penny overcomes her fear of stage fright. I also like that they won the contest and got their scholarships. A part that was sad was when the girls heard how good Penny was singing but she did not want them to her. So after that Penny would not even talk to them. One thing that was funny is when Mary-Kate and Ashley got revenge on Penny for being mean to them. That is my opinion about the book.
The theme of this book is that friends can help you do anything. That is the theme because Penny got over her fear. Another thing is when Ashley could not carry all the equipment Brian helped her with it. All of Penny and Brian's friends helped them practice for the competition. If you like to read surprising books this is a good book for you.

really good!

For anyone who has mixed up Going My Way and The Perfect Summer, Going My Way is not a Mary Kate and Ashley book. The Perfect Summer is though, it is Book 3 in the Sweet 16 series.

Amazon.com cannot seem to stop mixing up plots, titles, and series numbers. This book is not about as described, it is about Mary-Kate and Ashley getting a job (through their music exec dad) at a summer music festival working backstage. Mary-Kate meets a rock star, Gavin Michaels, and they start dating. Only things aren't as they seem with Gavin. Ashley gets a new boyfriend, Brian. She has to help his band partner, Penny, get over her stage fright before they have to perform and compete for a record contract. Can they make it? Though thoroughly predictable, this book is a great read, whether you like to read or not!

How many books R there in the Sweet 16 mini-series?

Okay, I have seen two books on the internet, one is called 'The Perfect Summer' , the other is 'Going My Way'. They are both noted as book 3 of 'Mary-Kate and Ashley Sweet 16.' If anyone knows which is the REAL book 3, and if you know what the story is about, whether it's same or different, please reply in a review, thanx.

Okay, I don't know if there are, like, two different versions of this book, but I have The Perfect Summer and the book you guys described in the other reviews is not The Perfect Summer. This book isn't about their driving test. In The Perfect Summer, Mary-Kate and Ashley get summer jobs at a music festival. Mary-Kate meets a rockstar named Gavin Michaels and Ashley gets a new boyfriend named Brian. They help Brian and their new friend Penny enter a contest to win a record deal. It's a really good book, but I don't know why they would make two with the same title or whatever mix-up happened. Ok, peace out.

Great symbol identification and clue following

This is a very unique Carle book. Your child can learn more about shapes and how to follow clues to lead to the next step. My daughter enjoyed reading the story and following the "clues" to the next shape to find the present at the end - a puppy.

If you take the story literally as an adult, you will agree with one of the reviewers that was upset a puppy was being stored in a cave/basement. But it's not meant to be taken literally. It's a fantastical journey for children. To this day, my daughter enjoys following the trail to the present waiting for her at the end.

My toddler likes it, I don't

I must be the only parent on the planet not to like Eric Carle's books. I don't like his illustrations at all (see A FAIRY WENT A-MARKETING for some GOOD illustrations, imho!) & the story bores me to tears...that is, until the end when I see the present is a live puppy who has been waiting God knows how long in a cave to be found by the birthday boy--then I get mad...& what kind of message does that send to little ones about caring for animals? Anyway, I gave this 3 stars because my 2 year old does enjoy it alot & has memorized the shapes & has fun with it, but it leaves me cold...just call me the Grinch, I guess...

The combination of short sentences and shapely illustrations make it ideal for beginning readers

This book is an excellent choice for beginning readers. The story is constructed from very short sentences and the associated visual effects are colorful and based on shapes constructed from partial pages. It opens with a riddle that is a secret message directing Tim to where he can find his birthday present. That present turns out to be something that nearly all children wish for, so the trek is one that will interest most children. I strongly recommend it for all children who are taking their first steps in learning to read.

A MUST HAVE for your Pre-K "birthday" books collection

Prior to my grandson's 3rd birthday, I gave him several books about birthdays. This one was his favorite. He was immediately drawn into searching through the clues which use directional words such as below, behind . . . He was breathless to find the surprise at the end of the book. And I'm not telling what the surprise is;it's a secret. I will tell you that it's a gift that most every child dreams of receiving. Of course, Eric Carle's art work is magical. Make a child's day--give him or her this book.

Delightfully Delexical Idiomatic Directionals

Review Date: 2006-06-05
Tim gets a message in code that will lead him to his birthday present. The code contains shapes, and the shapes correlate with cutout pictures of such things as the moon, a star, rocks, and a cave entrance. The cutout pictures half reveal, half conceal the pages behind it, as we fellow the code, a set of directional instructions: Below the star, behind the rock, down the stairs, up and through... After finding Tim's gift, first a pair of eyes but revealed to be a puppy, we are asked if we can find our way back. A map on the final page shows a spatial layout of all the previous instructions. At first I thought of this book as a single gimmick stretched, inflated into a full text, but it is actually more clever than that. It is a fun book that kids can quickly memorize and get the hang of, with the same fertile and detailed illustrations you are familiar with if you've seen any of Carle's books. But it is also challenging children to think through a set of instructions, think sequentially and directionally, then have to shift sets and run the sequence backwards. Good stuff, thanks Carle.

And who doesn't love a cute puppy?

Attaboy Sam is a book about a young boy named Sam who lives in Massachusetts. He tries to make a homemade gift for his mom's birthday because that's what his mom prefers. What should he make? The book is a hilarious account of Sam's attempt to come up with a perfect idea. The book, Attaboy Sam, is a good book and here are some of the reasons. It is full of laughter and hilarious adventure. It's funny because his parents and sister speak about things he doesn't understand and he thinks they have a different meaning. It's the sort of book that you can't put down because you have to know what's going to happen next. If you like exciting, funny and surprising books, you should read this and other stories in the series.

Sam, a young child, is looking for a present for his mom. He decides that the is going to make his mom some perfume. The first thing that he has to find is a jar to put all the stuff in. He already has a problem finding that, so he has to ask his sister. Then he listens for his mom to say what kind of stuff she likes and then Sam goes and tries to find it. Sam puts everything from homemade chicken noodle soup to water from an aquarium. His sister is also trying to make a gift for their mom but she decided that she was going to write a poem. Every now and then she goes to Sam and reads it to him and Sam helps her change it around to make it sound better. One day while Sam was going to his neighbor's house he saw a box that had kittens in it. Sam looked at the kittens and then finally decided that he wanted one, but Sam didn't tell his parents that he got it. To keep it a secret Sam kept it in his room and didn't let anyone come in. Sam's dad and sister were all making homemade gifts because thats what Sam's mom had said that she wanted.

I found "ATTABOY, SAM!" a great book! It was funny, entertaining and was written exactly how a 4-5 year old would see the world. Sam was hilarious, along with his preschool troupe. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a good laugh! Even if Sam's concoction(or perfume) didn't turn out great, it's funny how he goes about it!

I read the book Atta-Boy Sam. It's a story about a little boy named Sam who is 4 or 5 years old, and it's his mom's birthday. The store ran out of her favorite purfume Sam wants it to be the best birthday ever so he decides to make a home made purfume!Sam pays extra attention to what she likes the smell of.Sam's invention starts to bubble, so Sam gets scared and hides it. POP! I think this is a good book because it's rather cute and funny, like when Sam puts chicken noodle soup in his invention. The 'Sam'and 'Anastasia' books I can never put down because they're just so interesting.

Billy's Bucket Book Review

I thought Billy's Bucket was a very good book. I think the age for this book is about the second grade level, but can definitely be read to younger students. It's Billy's birthday and the only thing he wants is a bucket, nothing else so his parents agree for Billy to have a bucket. Therefore, they search the store for a bucket that is just right for Billy. He find the best bucket ever and takes it home, excited to fill it with water, he looks in and sees some amazing things going on in his bucket but the only problem is nobody believes him. He tells his parents numerous times not to use the bucket, but they do anyways and something unbelievable happens. I think this is a very good book for younger kids that have an imagination. There is nothing educational about this book, except that maybe sometimes parents should really listen to their kids. This is a good book that you could do numerous activities with. The pictures in the book are very detailed and very colorful

Ok, this is my first time writing a review. I just had to. I have three boys and they all LOVE this book. They are 2, 5 and 7. From day one, my older son loved that this book turned the tables and showed what happened when parents did not listen to their children, instead of the other way around. We have created our own bucket at home and when I read this book to their classes, I ask the students what they wish was in the bucket. They love doing this! I cannot say enough good things about this book.

I bought this book, because my 4 year old son and I borrowed it from the library. Ever since then all he wanted to read was "Billy's Bucket". We were constantly checking this book out until I found it here at Amazon. This is one of my son's favorite books. The basis and understanding with imagination is absolutely wonderful. I would recommend this book to anyone.

I am a substitute teacher and I take this book with me every time I sub. This book belongs to my five year old son and he loves to have this book read to him, but I steal it and take it when I work. I have read it to students of all ages and it is always a hit. I use it for a reward or just sometimes to relax and listen to a good story. I found it interesting that Fifth graders like this story as much as Kindergartners. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read to kids.

Very basic, but my 1 year old loves it. Perfectly age-appropriate, with big bright colors and only a few words per page, just what she loves right now. She doesn't have the patience for anything more involved, and loves to just flip the pages and point to the pictures. The way I understand it, each of these books gets a little more involved with each age, which is wonderful. I will be sure to keep collecting them for her birthdays.

Very cute calendar. The pages are thinner thean I had hoped, causing the calendar to be a bit flimsy and is easily bent out of shape. However, I love the upbeat, fun designs and I have been looking for a birthday calendar for a while. Could not have been more affordable; however, I would have been willing to spend a little more money for a thicker, more subsantial calendar. I don't really have any regrets, as the price is great and the calendar certainly is substantially able to serve it's purpose.

My birthday's coming up soon, and my mother wanted me to decide everything I wanted to do. This is a great book with awesome themes that come with activites, invitation, and decorating ideas. It's very creative and helpful. I've looked through the book many times!

What I like about this book is the creative ideas for older children, even teens, not just young children. The party themes are listed along with age guidelines. Parties for older kids include a soccer game party, casino party, or a night "under the stars." The book has lots of fun ideas to get you brainstorming, and recipes to match themes. Good general advice, as well as specific party plans. Check the Penny Whistle Party Planner and the Penny Whistle Any Day is a Holiday books for more theme ideas.

This book has a number of wonderfully creative ideas for birthday parties for children including not only party themes, but activities, party favor ideas and even party-throwing guidelines to follow! What a relief to know that as busy mothers and fathers, we won't have to "reinvent the wheel" to make our kids' parties a smashing success!

If your family is on a budget, don't buy this book!

This book is ridiculous. Nothing in here is affordable!

When I read the other reviews, I assumed that everyone here must have a fortune to spend on their children's birthday parties.

I'm on a tight budget and could never afford the lavish parties suggested in this book.

Don't waste your money on this book--check it out from the library. It has a few good game ideas, that's about it.

If you own just one birthday party book, this would be the one to buy. The parties are creative and includes lots of fun activities, decorations, and refreshments. The book is kid friendly too, with attractive illustrations and easy to understand instructions for everything. The Penny Whistle books are the best available.
