I had the pleasure of hearing Party People told directly byDonald Davis at the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival. I laughed SOhard, my sides hurt, and then found myself getting teary eyed at the touching ending. I have listened to many of Donald Davis' stories. They are masterful, and a JOY to hear.

Patch is greatly appealing. We've been enjoying patch books since my daughter was first born. The stories are short and interesting for little ones. The illustrations are delightfully perfect! This book is all about patch baking a cake, with a bunch of pull tabs, turn dials to bring the book to life. My toddler is so entertained by this book. Buy it!

This is a christian story of a shepard boy named Paul who always had to walk in bare feet until his father could finally get him some sandals for his feet. He loved them so much and was proud to wear them on his trip to see Jesus. There, he sees a poor, crippled boy and knows that he should give his sandals to the boy. Jesus sees that and gives the boy a special understanding about life.

Filled with wonderful glowing full page color illustrations. Hildebrandt's trademark of making his subjects pop of the page and giving them lustrous color and light make this tale a perfect object for his brush's attention. His depiction of both the underground world of rabbit tunnels and the above-ground world of sunshine and fields is magical. Another great rendition of the Peter Cottontail saga!

This book is the journey of a child's thoughts and discovery of love and connection, heaven and G-d. My kids are 8 and 9 (boy and girl) and they still both sit so quietly for it. They smile at the sweetness of the thoughts that Pip shares with his mother. They like the way the mother talks with Pip. It sets a nice tone for us for going to bed. I love this little book. It may make it to the books I save to read to grandkids someday.

You don't have to be any particular religion to appreciate this book. Many Blessings.

My 2 year-old daughter loves all of the platypus books by Chris Riddell. They have simple sentences that are easy to follow. I'd put the complexity of the text smack between Maisy (very simple) and Curious George (a little beyond her capabilities at this point). This book features your standard birthday party fare with cake-making, party-hat-wearing and balloons! A big hit around here.
