In Dorothy Butler's delightful picturebook story, My Brown Bear Barney At The Party, Barney's young owner takes him to Harold Hinkel's birthday party. The trouble begins when Harold's little sister thinks Barney is her present! She decorates Barney with the paints that Harold got for his birthday and then drops him into the aquarium! And that's how Barney arrived back home much cleaner than when he left! Wonderfully illustrated by Elizabeth Fuller, My Brown Bear Barney At The Party is a recommended picturebook for youngsters ages 4 and up. Also highly recommended are Dorothy Butler's earlier teddybear Barney picturebooks: My Bear Barney and My Brown Bear Barney In Trouble.

Author Lathika Sadasivan has done an excellent job of explaining what a millennium is to kids. With all the hype around us about Y2k, my 5 yr old always had lots of questions on time, age, years, etc. This book came in handy to me in satisfying my little one's curiosity. The book has brilliant illustrations and a very loving homely setting. I could actually imagine my kids trip to their grandparents, in the section where Katie is visiting her grandpa to celebrate his 100th birthday! I would recommend this book to all parents who are looking for references to explain their little ones questions on millennium, time etc. It's a good read!

My daughter loves this video and is always asking to watch it over and over. This video is so much better than the old-school images of the 1980's version. When we can't watch the movie, the book is a great substitution.

This book is filled with kid-friendly recipes and craft ideas. The best part is that the ideas are simple enough for kids to help, and we all know that kids love to help with planning parties! It makes planning the party fun for parents and kids.

Top-notch Novel for Children
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2007-11-05
This mysterious children's novel became one of the all time most famous children's novel in the U.S.A. The writer of this marvelous novel, Gertrude Chandler Warner, had what they call writers talent. He made no mistakes and must have had a wonderful experience while writing this story. My self personally collected all of his works of writing. Tons of my friends and family had a trill while reading the mysterious novel. In the begging of his novels you jump right into it and gain interest. The four young children contained in this story are, Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny. It seems kind of tragic that all four are forced to live in one boxcar. Later most happiness rose up the children's hearts when they moved to their grandfather's home. They all started a children's birthday party planning business. It was a small business, but yet very successful. One evening the children attended a small party at their neighbor's house. The four children were downstairs with the other kids trying to keep the entertained. Mean while the upstairs has been robbed, and their hidden safe emptied. Tons more houses had been robbed, so the Boxcar Children figure there is a mystery to be solved. I'll leave the rest for the young children to read.

A wonderfully evocative setting, cousin rivalry, and a Nana who knows what she wants... "Nana's Birthday Party" is brought to life with some of the best picture book writing and most delightful illustrations I've seen. This story will make many, many adult bedtime story readers remember similar stories of their own. A most enjoyable way to end the night.

Come on somebody, read this wonderful little tale and write a review. I loved it!!!!!!!! Julie and Phil are new parents whose newborn baby is giving them a fit!!1 Sound familiar? They call an employment agency to hire a Nanny and do they get a doozie. She is beautiful, hardworking and seductive. She can do anything. It is only when she decides to take the job that they hire her. Her references are superlative. She is hired. Every time she picks up the crying baby, he ceases his squalling immediately, which intimidates Phil and JUlie. They both feel like failures. Things start to be suspicious and PHil tries to call some of the references only to hit brick walls for various reasons. He gets more and more suspicious of this perfect Nanny. This is a very exciting book and worth anyone's attention. If the author reads this, let me know if I did a decent job reviewing it????
