The Nicki Holland Mysteries by Angela E. Hunt are a powerful blend of suspense and character lessons. Hard to put down, yet easy to read, these books are excellent for the most reluctant young reader. Even the advanced reader will find it difficult to put these stories down until finished. The mixture of mystery and moral issues combine to make these books not only entertaining but also thought provoking where traditional values are concerned. Well done, Ms. Hunt

Should We Seek God for Revival or Not?
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2005-11-06
Brian Edwards is a man who is passionate for the glory of God to be revealed through the Church. He believes that without the glory of God in the Church, the Church will sit idly by and allow men and women to go into eternity without hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is also passionate for revival.

This book is a follow up to Edwards book on revival in which he looked at revivals from both an historical and biblical perspective. I appreciated the authors desire to remain balanced in looking at revivals and seeing that revival is not mere feelings or excitement but is zealous for the honour and glory of God.

In this book, CAN WE PRAY FOR REVIVAL?, Edwards seeks to answer the questions brought on by his previous book on revival. He seeks to answer questions about praying for revival from, again, an historical and biblical context. Edwards is not blindly saying that revival is a work of men (as put forth by the pragmatist Charles G. Finney) but Edwards believes that Christians can pray for revival based on the promises of God in His Word. He urges believers to intercede for revival, for another great awakening as seen over 300 years ago with Jonathan Edwards.

Without a doubt, the Church needs revival. We need to return to the greatness of God and get our eyes off men. We need a return to sound teaching and expository preaching. We need to get off the fence, out of the worldly systems and market schemes, and get on our faces before a holy God in humble prayer. Perhaps God will hear and send a great revival for His honour and so that souls may be saved by His amazing grace.

A re-reable board book; lots to discuss with your toddler.

A bright and friendly lift-the-flap book. The flaps are indestructable, and the photographs are clear and interesting, featuring young toddlers in familiar settings. The story line is simple and repetitive: Cathy is looking for her (first) birthday cake. Appropriate for children as young as 9 or ten months old; my son is 2 and still enjoys it. Other books in the series include Billy's Boots, Ken's Kitten, and Meg's Monkey

Perfect Baby Book for those with Faith
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.

This baby book is nothing like the rest. It gives you pages to put important events from your faith into it. Unlike the rest of the books out there, which do not give you space for the important event in your faith. It also has pages with idea that are important that the other books don't have. I really like this book.

For someone wanting to know more about what influences their life, this is a great book. It guides you through finding your year number, your month number, and then the third number for your 9 KI personality profile. All 108 profiles have at least 2 pages describing their characteristics. It also lists "famous" people for each profile. My profile numbers are shared with Princess Di & Helen Keller. Several pages describe what numbers compliment (or not) your profile. There are also directional charts which I've not explored yet.

My daughter loves this book! After reading it to her 10 times in one day, I had to hide it to give myself a break! It's her favorite book, and she has many. She is learning the names of different animals and this is a fun way to learn. Love the charming illustrations!

Excellent Miss Spider Adaptation

Review Date: 2006-10-15
"A Cloudy Day in Sunny Patch" is another wonderful "Miss Spider" television story released as a book.Written and illustrated by David Kirk, this an excellent adapation of the original story by Steven Sullivan.

In this story, Shimmer, Miss Spider's adopted jewel-beetle is eager to celebrate her eighth hatch-day. Since she was adopted and had been an orphan, she's never had an exciting hatch-day party before. So her friends and family go all-out, but then rain threatens to spoil the party. Shimmer learns an important lesson about making the best of a bad situation.

The illustrations are bright and fun, just like on the TV show. The text is good for beginning readers. This is a nice story for all "Miss Spider" fans.
