I really enjoyed this book because it allowed for super hero play which is often frowned on in early education classrooms. Children are allowed to express themselves thru play and their imaginiations can run wild. This book did a great job of showing the reader just how children use their imagininations in play and just how quick the theme can change. This is a great book for anyone who is in the early childhood education field. It makes an easy read and it is truely a great book!!

I found a copy of this at my office and fell in love with it instantly. Being another Barbara, I could sympathize with this disappointed mouse, who "never gets what she likes for her birthday." It's simply a lovely book with beautiful pictures and a sweet story that has Barbara and her friend imagining the best birthday party ever.

My 2-year-old daughter LOVES this book. The picture of the kids dancing and the page where we sing "happy birthday you you" are her favorites. The illustrations are so big and colorful they're a joy to look at.

My four-year-old loved this book! I also enjoyed it as well. The story is a tad long, but it was a great book. I like how there were many different children in the book and how they got along together. A book for any baseball fan!

Any one who enjoys music knows who Johann Sebastian Bach is and knows he led an incredibly interesting life. Basically Bach includes everything you want or need to know about Bach and his life. In my opinion Herbert Kupferberg did a really good job covering all of the aspects of Bach's life. In it he went through Bach's life and also some other famous Johanns and Bachs. Bach wrote pieces of music for the clavier, church songs for the organ, and operas. He was married twice. His first wife was Maria Barbara and his second was Anna Magdalena. This is a good book for anyone who is interested in history, good music, and Bach. You'll definitely enjoy this wonderful book by Herbert Kupferberg.

Buy this book for all the Batman lovers in your life. It's just plain funny! The Joker blasts his way out of the asylum and again, tries to plat a sinister plan and get rid of Batman. Of course, his ploys do not work but how they go about it is quite funny. My little guy just loves this book, plus it encourages his reading time. Great stuff, hope there are more of these!!

Every child should have a copy of this book. A friend bought me a copy when I was little. We read it many times. In this story. Rose's Uncle Tony was celebrating his birthday. So Rose, Dorothy, Mama, Papa, Aunt Helen and Uncle Gilbert and their kids, Raymond and Peter all went down to the Beach to celebrate the annual event. They had a picnic supper and swam in the ocean and built sand castles. They also watched fireworks at the end of the day. We still read this book aloud. I am sorry that it is out of print as I would love to purchase some copies for my little cousins Michael and Olivia, when we see them at the beach 4th of July Week this summer. Bring it Back Please!

Fans of Bear in the Big Blue House will love Bear's Birthday. Color your way through this book as Bear and his friends celebrate Bear's birthday. I gave copies of this book as party favors at my son's second birthday party. What a hit! The children loved adding color to the illustrations and completing the activity pages. This book is perfect for your little one!

Nancy Whitelaw's A BEAUTIFUL PEARL is a masterfully written, sensitvive story of a young girl visiting her grandmother who is in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease. Imagine the poor grandaughter's apprehension at seeing this confused old woman who can't even remember where she put the girl's birthday present. Eventually the grandmother regains enough lucidity to remember her grandaughter's present: a beautiful pearl. Yet as the old woman gives the gift to her grandaughter the reader is left wondering if it's not really the grandmother rather than the gift who is the more beautiful pearl. With so many children experiencing just such situations in their lives today this book is a must.
