I have tried out this book in a local nursery school and found that it was just as exciting to the children as Jonathan Lycett-Smith's previous publication 'Kitten Kid Were are You?'. This was also a Walker Book Publication obtainable at the Early Learning Centre. The children loved the little monster and joined in with all the face pulling, ending up with big smiles that knocked us all flat in an ectasy of laughing. What a joy to have a well illustrated book that all the children could relate to in a joyful manner.

A delightful picturebook story for very young readers

In Judy Hindley's delightful picturebook story for very young readers, The Perfect Little Monster, Baby Monsters seems perfect to his parents. He has horrible little eyes and a horrible little nose. he loves to scowl and how and make a terrible mess. But when Baby Monster's whole family gathers for his first birthday party, he reveals he's not quite as perfect as his parent's think! Jonathan Lycett-Smith's colorful, whimsical artwork is perfectly suited to Hindley's fanciful story.

The book is apparently very simple. But the illustrations are full of details that children discover and love. My 2 year old boy wants to have it read once and again.

A must have for any child.

My daughter loves this book and she is only 8 months old. It is a sweet and charming book about 2 mice trying to find the perfect birthday gift for their friend. The illustrations are also amazing. I am telling all my friends about this book, I am so glad that we got it as a Christmas gift!!

Polis and Politics: The Legacy of Mogens Herman Hansen

Review Date: 2001-02-09
This volume is a collection of essays offered by important scholars to one of today's foremost historians of the ancient city state. The collection is generally of the specialist's level, although dedicated hellenophiles will find much here worthy of reading. Hensen has been very concerned with defining the city-state, and the conceptual focus of these contributions reflects that concern, without losing sight of the need for proper evidence and interpretation. For example, the essay by S. J. Miller shows the connection between ancient athletics and the ideals of deomocracy and oligarchy. J. Ober's essay on Socrates considers the persuasive eloquence of Socrates's speech before the jury in context with his own philosophical persuasions on the streets of Athens. Hansen's opening poem shows that he has not lost the gift of humor!

Amazon should correct the attribution to the editor: it is by Pernille Flensted-Jensen (et al).

Written by practicing psychologist Ken Counts, Ph.D., Rejuvenation or, "My Birthday-Suit Doesn't Fit Me Any More!" is a self-help guide to improved quality of physical and emotional health through good nutrition, exercise, and a positive attitude. Chapters address how to modify your grocery list and eating behavior for healthier living, balancing cardiovascular, resistance, and flexibility training, the basics of stress management and keeping a healthy attitude, and much more. "I have a very simple truth for you. Forgiveness is a good thing. Grudges are a bad thing. No question about it. I have witnessed this truth many times. When you hold a grudge, and you are angry with someone, you basically end up punishing yourself. Why would you want to do that?" Black-and-white photographs illustrating descriptions of specific exercises and day-by-day meal plans and recipes round out this holistic guide to feeling young again.

For the parents who loved "The Wheels on The Bus.." pop up book, this is a must. Get two, before they run out. My 14 month old won't go to sleep without at least three encores.

Its All In the Cards- These symblos are REALLY SACRED!

"All is mystery; But he is a slave who will not struggle To penetrate the dark veil" Benjamin Disraeli

I have tried for a lifetime to find a copy of the book "Whats Your Card" by Arne Lein.(1973) It is impossible to find one. I then found out that the "Gypsy Bible" was a bible in fact long before it became corrupted by the gypsies themselves to make profits telling fortunes. The followers of this information have always held it to be a sacred book, its symbols sacred symbols. The Rosicrucians (the original Masons) revered it and its 52 "chapters" as true revealers of Gods Laws. Long before the Gypsy Bible there was the Masonic Bible, and long before that, the Little Bible mentioned in the scriptures. And before that?....
There is much higher evidence that carries our cards back to the Atlanteans and the Master teachers who were appointed to save a remnant of the race. While there may be a few among us today who can claim equal rank with the most spiritually minded of them, we may at least give thanks for the revelation of as much of the teaching as we are able to grasp. By using the 52 cards as an innocent pastime does no harm, but we are missing something valuable and important if we regard it only as a pack of cards. The true origin of the Tarot cards is not known; although universally conceded, however, that the teaching was given to wise men of old, divinely appointed as leaders and guides for the seekers of the "Path of Return" The purpose of this teaching was to find a prevention and cure for the one great tragedy that accounts for all the ills of mankind and the world it has lived in from the beginning of time-- what the occultists calls " The Crime of Seperation." We well know that the great departure from the Divine Source of our being followed swiftly on the heels of the Comandments given through the voice of Moses. We are dangerously far from that Source today.
About seventy-five years ago a few members of a secret order were instructed to give out SOME of the knowledge of these Sacred Symbols. Certain advanced students were commisioned to carry on, and it was one of these, far advanced in years at the time, who became the author of this book, Edith L. Randall. Years of intensive study on her part, application, experiment, and incontrovertible proof have produced the enlightenment you will find in these pages.

One of the Source Documents on the Science of the Cards

This is the book that first introduced me to the science of the cards. I was at a friend's house in 1987 when she handed me this book and asked me to look up my card and read about myself. She wanted to know my impression of what it said. I read the short chapter on my birth card and was amazed at how accurate it was. It wasn't very flattering but it was indeed an accurate description of the major issues and personality traits that are mine. What amazed me even more was that there are eight different birthdays that all have the same card as mine. As an astrologer I couldn't imagine how this could actually work. But I had to admit that it pegged me. Now, after writing my own books on this ancient and amazing system, I still recommend this book to those who are studying this system. The language is a bit outdated but the information is still very pertinent. It gives a fairly detailed description of each of the 52 birth cards, a chart for looking up your card and the tools to actually do yearly progressions, though the information on this aspect is very sketchy. The main benefit of this book is the birth card descriptions which reveal a lot of valuable information about our life patterns. This book appears to be the second book ever published on this system. It was published in the early forties and the two authors have since passed away. Florence Campbell, one of the authors, also published one of the all time best books on numerology, Your Days Are Numbered.

The world's most boring birthday party turns into a festival of fright when the kids are treated to a visit from a crrrreeepy clown. Not only that, but the reader gets to choose the ending.

R.L. Stine's "multiple ending" format is at its best in this book. It features over 20 different endings and the scariest clown you've ever met.

One of my children's favorite books growing up. With half pages to move the story along and no words, children can make up their own story. Goodall's illustrations are delicious and the cake looks real enough to eat. To my 8 children, this is a treasure and it encoourages creativity in making up dialogue. Delightful!!!

An excellent book for making up a story.

I had this book as a child and it was my absolute favorite. The illustrations are beautiful, and because there are no words, the parent can make up a story. Later, the child can start making up his own version. I think it's great for building a child's imagination

Absolutely charming

My sister and I both fell in love with all of John Goodall's little books as children. This, as well as most of his others, feature beautiful Victorian illusrations (though not at all fussy) of animals getting into mischief and interesting situations. The best part of these is that every other page is cut in half, so when you flip it over it forms a new illustration (hard to describe, but the effect is wonderful). Also these books are wordless, so my three-year old as well as his eight-year old cousin both enjoy these. This book tends to be a bit more feminine, as is Naughty Nancy. For boys and girls both I highly recommend the Creepy Castle, or any of the Paddy books (all by this author).
