A beautiful gift for any parent.

I received The Book of Birthday Letters and after 5 minutes of looking through it I had a pen in my hand! I've tried to keep "baby books" and "journals" but could never quite keep up with them. I'm sorry to have lost so many memories along the way. This book idea is just the way to keep hold of all the wonderful feelings during a child's growing years. My youngest just celebrated his first birthday, so this book will become a treasure. And even though my oldest is about to turn 13 I predict that this book can cover many beautiful and important thoughts over the next few years.

This book, filled with your own thoughts and feelings, will be worth its weight in gold.

This book was given to me as a gift and it is one that I will treasure forever. Hopefully it will become as important to my child in the future when he reads all that his dad and I thought about with each passing year. This is a MUST HAVE book for new parents or grandparents! The book is put together beautifully, it is organized in such a way that it will help even the parent who does not like to write organize their thoughts! The introduction is a great section to help any parent get started and then the follwing pages are a beautiful journal. On the bottom of each page is a little thought... Each page is lined with the heading Happy _ Birthday. There are 3 pages that a parent can fill and these are followed by 1 page to describe the child's birthday party. My intention will be to fill these pages with pictures since we do not always have birthday parties.... The last section is for grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, etc to include their wishes. I know I will be purchasing quite a few of these books to give as gifts!

A Moving Story

What perhaps distinguishes this book from other similar stories is the tone. Those of us who know Rabbi Berkowits have experienced his energy and optimism about the future. The book contains that same positive outlook. While the story in many ways is dark, the telling of it is not. The focus is on relationships, traditions and the inexplicable sense that everything will ultimately be okay. Rabbi Berkowits often speaks to young people about his experiences. This book is a terrific teaching tool as well.

A touching account of a survivor

Rabbi Laszlo Berkowits has shared the story of his life in a book that is readable, touching and reflects the humanity and faith of its author. Those of us who know Laszlo well and thought we knew all of his story learned even more about his youth in Hungary and his experiences under Nazism. There is not even a touch of "feel sorry for me" in this account. He shows how one can retain his or her humanity in the midst of the worst of times. This book is a welcome addition to the library of accounts of Holocaust survivors. It is also a book that tells much of the richness of the small Hungarian towns where Jews lived. How blessed we are that Laszlo not only found his birthday but that he found a new life.

This book is great. Young readers will find it easy to follow, and will be enchanted by the story of Bruno and his friend Felix as they bake a birthday cake. Be warned, there is a cake recipe at the end of the book, and your child will most certainly want to try it.

After purchasing this book for my son, I decided to buy two more copies for his classroom library. Besides having a great story and pictures, the hardback book has thick pages that should stand up well to constant readings.

Great book for children with active minds

My 4 year old daughter loves all of the Bruno books but Bruno theBaker is her favorite. Children this age love to learn how to do newthings and the Bruno books give step by step explanations while still being very entertaining. The illustrations are especially adorable. I highly recommend it.

This is a great calendar that you can re-use every year--I hang it right next to my current year calendar so I won't have to re-write all those birthdays, anniversaries, etc. each time I get a new calendar. I even used my electronic labelmaker for the entries so they look nice and neat. A must have if you are an organization freak like me!

A beautiful glimpse at the way life should look.

Ms. Stern has written a beautiful book explaining the essence of diabetes to a child. The book is enhanced by Ms. Orland's illustrations. I have had diabetic friends read this book, and they all tell me they approve of it greatly. This is a disease that I had never heard of until I was twelve, and did not really understand until I was in high school. I wish this book had been around a few decades earlier.

Informative for adults, too!

It is ironic that I never really understood the complexities of diabeties until I read this book. Written simply for children and bypassing extraneous technical language, "Can Mom Have a Piece of My Birthday Cake?" is actually a wonderful "Cliff Notes" of sorts, for adults who want to acquire a basic but not oversimplified grasp of the condition. The book gives an intelligent but easily understood explanation of the physiology and symptoms of the condition, and also provides a window into the practical concerns of a person with diabetes. (The
activities at the end are a great reinforcement for kids!) I recommend this book for children, and also for any adult who would like a quick and practical overview of the disease.

If you have or know someone who has a haflinger horse, then this book is for you. Drop dead gorgeous watercolor paintings illustrate this book. The storyline is completely believable if you have ever owned a Haflinger Horse. They are a special breed, and this book really does them justice. You won't fall asleep reading it to your little ones!

Horse Lovers Come Forth

A long time ago, in a city by the sea, a delivery-man named Mr. Decker, owned a horse named Chestnut who helped to pull the delivery wagon all over town. People would eagerly await the early morning arrival of Mr. Decker and Chestnut, for they relied on them very much to help supply their businesses with goods. One morning Mr. Decker falls asleep after chaining Chestnut to the delivery wagon, and loading it with goods. Now Chestnut must take matters into his own hooves, and deliver the goods before it is too late.

I am a huge horse lover, so CHESTNUT was a book that I just knew that I had to have. Constance W. McGeorge's lovely prose bring the story to life, describing the delightful scenery found around Chestnut, while the gorgeous illustrations by Mary Whyte keep you mesmerized from the very first page, to the very last. Overall this is a gorgeous new children's book. Especially for horse lovers.

Spiffy Story

Review Date: 2002-02-14
I liked this book because it is a good story of a girl who visits her neighbor who is old and lonely. This lady (Miss Maggie) tells a story to the little girl who visits her (Ellie) about a doll that she had when she was a girl. For her Eighth Birthday she got a doll with big blue eyes. She laid her doll on the hallway table. Then when they heard a crash. It was the doll. Her Birthday was coming up and they bought a present for her. What happened to the doll? To find out what happens next read this book.

I cry every time I read this darn book...

Call me sentimental, but there's something to this story that tugs at your heart strings every time you read it. And I've read this at least a dozen times.

The story tells of the relationship between Ellie and her sitter Miss Maggie and of the very special birthday gift that Ellie gets for Maggie out of "pure love."

The illustrations are quite beautiful and complement the story very well. A tender story creates a tender heart. This is the best book in the Chicken Soup for Little Souls' series.

This is the first book in a series by this author. He states on his website at www.childrensworldnet.com that other books will "compare" how children live in different countries, in adventure story form, using animal "characters". Each book connects to the last and the next in some way. I felt this book would be great for early readers e.g. 2nd and 3rd grade and the website would be good for the same readers and even their teachers and parents. Great game ideas, great "real" photos of book countries, customs, foods, schools, homes, and children's "dreams".

WOW! This book could be about ME>>>>

My birthday is in December also and always makes it hard to have a party because everybody is too busy with Christmas stuff. But CHIP is also a soccer player as I am too and to get to go to on a plane all by yourself to a big soccer game is just too cool dude! My parents probably would never let me, but I would like to anyhow. I really liked this book because it is just like the things I do and the way I go to school and all and I just really liked this book a LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!Oh, and I am 9 until December 18 in 2004

CRYSTAL ASTROLOGY MAGIC
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2007-07-18
Embracing your unique crystal motifs for your natal chart is a required course for anyone seeking to understand metaphysics. Marina has had almost two decades working with crystal energy which makes this book a very authoritative subject from which people can have life-shifting changes. There are millions of people who never go beyond sun signs in the newspaper, and they never find anything really worthwhile. This book encourages people to be willing to face life squarely and get down beneath the surface of life where the verities and realities are to be found. It is an opener which holds the promise of leading a more vibrant and mythic life from pathos to possibilities. This book is a miracle of truth telling. She was met with the unenviable task of truncating 360 degrees of soothsaying wisdom into single messages, affirmations and captions. This was carefully reduced from the gigantic wealth of autumnal psychic impressions received by clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler last century. There is infinitely more to realise and it pays to persist working with them as there are greater shores of rich knowledge to discover. By working with crystal energy you can gracefully transform psychological blocks inherent in your chart and be in possession of more charisma and personal power. This book also provides direction which are illuminated from this random oracular system for bringing strength and potency to you born of 360 degrees of wisdom. It is a marvelous guide for people wanting to step into your true destiny which redefines wholeness and is a truly dynamic method for radiating well-being and fulfulling your life purpose. The book is only an appetizer and there is more in the depths of occultic and esoteric knowledge to know! It is an introduction for those unfamiliar with astrology or for a novice. I would recommend to start here first and then read the wonderful "360 Degress of Wisdom" by Lynda Hill and "The Astrological Oracle" by Lyn Birkbeck. I look forward to futher offerings by Marina Costelloe, she is a seasoned and gifted writer who is willing to be the bridge from which all possibilites emerge. When you delve into Sabian Symbols you will release they are a profound gift from the divine which are a necessary and dynamic method for changing your life for the better, which afterall is everything your life should be! Sabian Symbols are a true prescription for living which enables you break through old paradigms and to live life more freely and with thunderous grace. I hope this honest provocative work inclines the reader on a quest to go beyond the surface to explore them in all their depth and radiance.
