Inside the Passion is a behind the scenes peek at how the movie was made. It explains why certain things were shown and is surprisingly useful as a meditation tool.

A lot of folks flipped out because they thought the scourging and crucifixion scenes were too strong. The book explains why Mel Gibson and his team decided that they were not going to sanitize the Passion the way other movies had in the past.

Some folks nitpicked becuase Gibson and the team decided to have Jesus speak Latin to Pilate but the book shows that they made this decision for pretty sensible reasons: 1. The Romans had been in Palestine for 40 years. In Gallilee, which was heavily gentile by that time, a smart person must have been roughly familiar with Latin if for no other reason than that it was important to know how high to jump when a Roman soldier demanded that you do so. 2. Jesus was God. He could've spoken in any language He chose when He decided to speak to Pilate's ignorance.

Finally, the great strength of this book is that it so closely follows the movie step by step that even if you never saw the film after reading the book you will understand it. This is an excellent work and I plan to buy more copies as gifts.

I bought this book for my Dad, but opened it up last night and couldn't put it down. The book is only 186 pages, but it's not a quick read. It makes you think. It brings up insights I never thought about, Mel Gibson's 12 years of meditating on Christ's Passion have born a lot of fruits. Read it for yourself.

Explanation of the Passion for everyone

This book is written so clearly that almost anyone should have no trouble understanding the way Father John Bartunek, a Legionary of Christ (Roman Catholic Religious Order), clarifies the different aspects of Christ's Passion as is portrayed by Mel Gibson in his movie. Father John spent time on the set, watching as Mel filmed this great epic and has not only interesting insights into the filming of the movie, but also clarifies the main points, as well as details of the entire Passion of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. The movie is well worth rewatching ... as you read Inside the Passion and you will see it in a new light every time. Our Lord's Passion speaks to each of us individually, touching our hearts anew and calling us to a real Love, that comes from Christ Himself. This is a great book and a great gift for anyone at any stage in their faith.

This book is actual written by John Bartunek. He is a priest with wonderful insites. He speant a great deal of time on the set when it was being filmed and during the editing. This is a great companion to the movie.
I Loved this book so much I bought a copy for my mother and myself as well- and I will probably being buying them for a few people I know this year (just before) Easter.
I Hope that he writes more books in the future.

Compelling analysis of event and film

I saw Fr. John Bartunek (the author) give a presentation on The Passion of Christ (event and film) last night to a surprisingly packed (who knew so many people would show up on a Tuesday night to discuss a two-year old film?) university campus church auditorium of over 500 people (students and community members). His presentation, like his book, gives a fascinating and compelling account of the theology and symbolism that went into the making of Mel Gibson's film. The presentation was electrifying; the book is no less moving and thought-provoking. For example, there's a very short scene in the film when, in the midst of the horrific flogging of Christ, the camera turns to what appears to be a shot of a young mother with her infant child in the crowd. As the camera moves in on them, however, we find that the woman is not beautiful, but very odd and sinister, and the baby almost inhuman, as we see when it turns its head to give the viewer an evil smile. The symbolism: The woman represents the devil and the child his handiwork. Gibson takes an iconoclastic image of Beauty (Madonna and Child) and turns it into Evil (devil and inhuman offspring). The point:
Evil is not immediately identifiable as starkly evil; rather, evil is simply beauty that has become distorted and false. It tempts us into thinking it is one thing, when in fact it is quite something else. The significance, twofold: to illustrate the devil's role in the suffering and death of Christ and, perhaps more importantly, to show that when Christ is at his weakest (including in modern society), the devil gains a foothold. Interesting tidbit: Gibson used a beautiful actress as the devil, had her head and eyebrows shaved, and used makeup to turn her into something very un-beautiful. And this was only one 20-second scene! The examples go on and on. As a liberal-minded Catholic unhappy with the "culture wars" surrounding so many issues today, I was pleased to see that this film had no agenda other than to relate the Gospel story with the major theme being Christ's love for all humanity, including not only us simple sinners but also those who beat, mock, and kill him, in various ways. It's an invigorating story and makes the book well worth reading.

Is it possible that the subject of Christ's last few days of life could be set forth in a clear concise, understandable manner? Yes, this book does set forth, the accuracy of the bible, and Jesus Christs last days, as no other work has done.It should be a "must" read for all who are students and teachers of the bible.

For two thousand year, the Christians of the world have been misled - it was not what Christ accomplished, it was in spite of what he attempted to achieve. "Martha's Voice: Portrait in Words" exposes the worlds most successful and wealthy institution from a source almost to unbelievable to believe. Preaching that we need knowledge of our past to understand our present and prepare for our future, "Martha's Voice: A Portrait in Words" is highly recommended to Christian studies shelves and for any religious scholar.

This book is written in an easy style with humour and suspense, which keeps you going right to the end and leaves you wanting more. Thankfully, Martha's Voice is neither yet another rant against religion nor a tedious biblical interpretation. However, it is primarily about the origins of Christianity and the life of Jesus, but it doesn't fall into a category that I've seen before - you have to read it to understand what I mean. Almost in the style of a novel, this book provides a detailed account of what the author sincerely believes Jesus and his family really taught when compared to what Christianity have convinced us he taught. The entire read is not only fascinating, but it leaves you feeling enlightened and creates a much clearer understanding of God, of life and of death. I loved this book. As I read it I felt as though everything just came into place, and for the first time all that I'd previously wondered about or doubted was clarified and made sense. The words Claire Heaton shares resonated with me - I don't know how else to put it. The story presented just feels right and make so much sense. Read it and decide for yourself.

I've long been leary of organized religions. However, I'm leary of spiratualists too. When I first started reading Martha's Voice, I thought it was a little bizarre; interesting, but bizarre. But, as I kept reading, the ideas seemed less and less strange and more and more probable, even comforting. The story of Jesus Heaton tells is capitvating, even if you think you already know the story. It'll make you think, and thinking is never wrong.

Extra! Extra! is a creative and interesting look at what the newspapers during the days of Jesus might have reported. These accounts include news, interviews, weather, quotations from the bible, and obituaries that detail the events surrounding Jesus and the founding of Christianity from the day of Jesus' birth through his death to his ascension to heaven. These interesting accounts detail what people of this time would have said and thought about Jesus, his actions, and his religion.

Extra! Extra! is both entertaining and educational. It gives old stories new life and energy. This is the primary aim of this book. With this important bias in mind, this book purposefully describes events in a rather one sided view, from the viewpoint of one of Jesus' modern followers. This viewpoint assumes that Jesus would have been an important story at the time and that most of the accounts about this man would have been generally positive. Of course, neither of these aspects were entirely true at the time, despite Jesus' important contributions both in his founding of Christianity and his contributions to humanity as a whole. Nonetheless, as a new and energetic teaching tool, this book is quite unique and interesting.

The author's careful examination of "ascension" and "translation" in ancient times in and outside the Bible created in me the possibility it could be for us today, even as those ancients believed in the priestly group, such as Enoch and Elijah. The book was a great help for my personal study as well as a nice addition to my private library.

Torrance is one of the too easily overlooked names in the challenging world of modern Christian theology. Here he ably demonstrates the life affirming and cataclysmic significance of the Resurrection and Ascencion of Christ by focusing on the redemptive, life from death, operation of the Historical and Eschatological Jesus (who indeed are one and the same) towards the end of rescuing and putting to rights human temporal existence and human spacial existence.

Thomas F. Torrance does all of this with the style of Barth and Van Til while making notable invitations to those outside of the Christian tradition and academia. He invites us towards a scientific theology.

At last! A manual that really points the way

Many people wander around for ages, going here, there and everywhere in search of a path that satisfies their spiritual thirst and really shows the way to mastery. The beauty of this book is that it provides an effective guide to the key things that one must do to achieve mastery and physical immortality and, best of all, gives the reader an opportunity not just to wet the spiritual appetite by reading the book, but to put the principles into practice and even take classes at the author's online school (as I did).

An attractive feature is the simplicity and directness of the author's style and her ability to make difficult concepts easy to understand. There is an invaluable glossary of terms following the four main parts into which the book is divided.

The age old questions concerning the nature of God and creation, touched upon in a usually obscure manner in many religious texts, are discussed in Part One, along with the emergence of man, his glory and fall and an assessment of his current situation. Part Two deals with Jesus' true mission and promise for the Golden Age. The author does not pull her punches in placing man squarely at the centre of, and being responsible for, creating his own reality, also covered in Part Two.

Parts Three and Four comprise the main sections of the book. Those who are serious about their spiritual development would welcome in Part Three, the insights into the roles that motivation and ego play, as well as the presentation and explanation of a number of key tools for accelerating one's development.

Part Four provides an extended introduction to the Sacred Fire and an explanation of the differences between Ascended Masters and Immortals and between ascension and resurrection. A fascinating account of the Seven Levels of Spiritual Growth, which gives one a better understanding of humanity and the human condition, is given.

The book thoroughly deserves five stars. The serious reader will not only love it for many of the reasons stated above, particularly for its explanation of the condition of man in this "reality" and how to master it as well as the Sacred Fire and how to employ it in our lives, but will, I am sure, recommend it to his or her more discerning friends and colleagues.

A "must read".

A book to Challenge and Awaken

This is a book for those who are ready to enrich their minds in solid Truths, not fairy tales. For those who are ready to have their limited beliefs completely shattered in the process.

What is written will feed both mind and soul and change all perception of the world around us for any that truly aspire and apply what is read into their lives.

There are things written by the author, that really will challenge all previous conceptions of society for many that read it. And for many, being challenged with the very things we have for so long identified with, is difficult when we're surrounded by so many social, religious and political structures...it takes time and effort to break those down.

It was hard for me, very hard when I first started to read this book. In fact, for a while I put it down, but determined to finish and to understand I read through it, and with time and patience, I came to see my perceptions and social programming alter to a level that my life is now changed forever. Changed for the better.

This is not a self-help book that strokes the ego and tells us what we want to hear. This is a book that will shatter that ego so that it will no longer need to be stroked. Providing of course, we use the information within it. It isn't enough to just sit and read. What has been written needs to be applied and put into practice.

Action on what is read makes all the difference.
And this is not a book that anyone who actually reads it without tainted bias would, in error, judge as "New Age".

This is a book for those that are actually ready for the next step. This is a book for those that are not satisfied anymore with the feel-good New Age books that basically cover everything to occupy the mind on a spiritual level but don't actually CHALLENGE you to look to the Highest Source for spiritual empowerment, and then in the process show you the tools to equip and EMPOWER YOURSELF.

I'm one of millions who have spent years searching for spiritual Truth in a whole array of different books.
That search ended when I opened 'The Resurrected Dead, Now Immortal, Live Among Us: a Manual for Immortality' for the first time.

A* for both Book and Author

I give this book five stars because it just does not go any further.
I'm reading this book now for the second time and it realy blows me away.
To me a whole different world opens up by reading this book.
On the very few bad reviews this book has here there are certainly some very liberal new agers that have turn words around to make this book look bad (ZORAN FROM MELBOURNE , YOU ARE SUCH A LIER).
Thank you jhershierra for writing an absolute masterpiece that is easy to read and written in a no-nonsense style.

This book is the best book I've read on gaining immortality in this lifetime. I took the classes too that she offers for those who are serious and really wish to work on their spiritual growth. The author is obviously operating at master level awareness and every person serious in growing and learning all thing immortal (and spiritual) should buy this book.

Jhershierra is a very comprehensive and competent teacher of a topic many of us search for but find it hard to believe. This book, while containig some things that are hard to accept the first time you read it, offers a blueprint that not only brings together many of lifes spiritual questions but also offers the reader a simple to understand path to making it work for them.

This book has made a very real difference in my life and hope it will make a similar difference in yours.
