One of the best Christmas stories for children
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-08-01
This is one of the best Christmas stories for children that you will ever encounter. Santa is an old man named Nicholas, and his son and grandson share the name. It is also a family duty, as when the current Santa retires, his son will take the job. However, grandson Nick has a difficult time controlling the sleigh and the travel is very hard on his stomach. Also, Nick has a poor relationship with the reindeer, especially Donner, who kicks him at every opportunity. Therefore, it has already been decided that his twin sister Marcia will take over the Santa duties when the time comes.
The story opens with the sleigh returning to the North Pole devoid of Santa. Somehow he is lost and unable to contact anybody. He fell out of the sleigh, bumped his head and now has a case of amnesia. Fortunately, it is the Christmas season, so a fat man in a red suit doesn't attract all that much attention.
Nick and Marcia fly the sleigh around looking for Santa, while Santa wanders around trying to determine who he is. Naturally, he ends up working as a Santa in a store, but that quickly becomes a problem as he is not every good at it. Eventually, Nick and Marcia do find him and after some difficulties, his memory is restored.
There are so many humorous twists on the classic Santa stories that it cannot fail to amuse children. Some of the antics of the reindeer in demonstrating their dislike of Nick are very funny. I strongly encourage you to have your children read this book during the next Christmas season.

The adventures of Nick Martin, which starts with Linda Ford's Santa Claus, Inc., continues with Santa, S.O.S.

Nick Martin and his twin sister frantically search for Santa (their grandfather) when the sleigh and reindeer return one day without him. This delightfully fun tale will please both young and older readers. Also, be sure not to miss The Santa Solution, the third installment in Ford's terrific Santa stories.

Each of my children had a copy and wore them out. It is a wonderful holiday gift and a good interactive story for all preschoolers and toddlers. Each child should have their own copy.

I was EXTREMELY pleased with this book. I just love this book and I am so excited to finally have a book to help my 3 granddaughters see Christmas beyond the commercialized Christmas. I have for many years struggled with how to teach my granddaughters the true meaning of Christmas and the sacrifice Jesus made for each of us. Furthermore, I did not want to have them shut down on me. This book keeps it fun and interesting for them.
I never felt comfortable with Santa being the main theme of Christmas. I am so glade that I now have a book to read every Christmas to my granddaughters. Moreover, it is a book for all ages. It is a fun book with wonderful illustrations. Every Christian should have this book in their home, without a doubt. I highly recommend this book to everyone, young and old. I believe anyone who reads this Christmas books will be glade they did. It is my pray that MS. Daniels continues to bless us with her wonderful NOT just about Santa books.

THE BEST Christmas book ever!

I was EXTREMELY pleased with this book. The Christmas message that it portrays is one of Christ, not commercialism. The TRUE meaning of Christmas -- remembering Jesus Christ and celebrating His birth -- is the main focus of this book. The illustrations are very fun and child friendly. My three daughters have enjoyed this book time and time again since we received it, as well have my wife and I. Santa teaches, using the commonly known and recognized symbols of the Christmas season, about Jesus and His Atonement and reminds us of the true reason for Christmas. My children now cannot think of Santa without thinking about the Savior and His sacrifice for us. This is a MUST HAVE book for every Christian home. It is destined to become a classic. I would recommend this book to anyone, with or without children, without reservation. Finally, Santa is not the focus of Christmas!

The BEST Santa book there is!

We've read them all, and this is THE best (non-religious) Christmas book I've read to my kids! In a totally non-threatening and very humorous way, Santa's existence is confirmed for 'big boys' like my kindergartener, who really doesn't want to believe that Santa isn't real. Perfect for this age, and even my younger (almost 3-yr-old) enjoys the vivid images and fun text. A MUST-have for the Christmas season - and there aren't too many!

Fantastic New Holiday Children's Book

Christmas is here, and this year, young Stevie has decided that he doesn't believe in Santa Claus anymore. However, instead of keeping his opinions to himself, he has announced them on national television, and declared that Santa must be a fake. Due to this act, Stevie is swept up by Saint Nick, and taken to Santa Industries - located in Cleveland - and the North Pole, where Stevie has the chance to ask Santa Claus all of his questions, and get them answered, such as, "How can one person deliver toys to billions of children all over the world in just one night?" and "How does Santa fit in such tiny chimneys?" and more.

I have read many holiday books for children, teens, and adults in my lifetime, but only a mere few of compared to James Solheim's SANTA'S SECRETS REVEALED. Solheim has created a book that will help to make readers young and old begin believing in Santa Claus once again, what with his wonderful answers to any question a child might pose about Saint Nick. And, to accompany Solheim's information, are the beautiful illustrations by Barry Gott that truly bring the story to life, as he uses such gorgeous, and vivacious colors. If you plan on purchasing any holiday children's books this year, make sure that SANTA'S SECRETS REVEALED is on your shopping list.

Canadian duo - MacLennan and Parkinson - really have their act together. This small package of "feel good" charm has it all; story, rhyme, brightly coloured pictures that capture the imagination, and a solid moral ending. It has my vote.

Northern New Mexico traditions and culture

Review Date: 2007-12-26
The Santero's Miracle is a very sweet story that captures the culture and traditions of Northern New Mexico. The persons who carve saints (santeros) are highly regarded here. Many families have a multi-generational tradition of carving.

This story illustrates the unique culture that developed in the remote mountains of Northern New Mexico. This is a rare place in America.

The illustrations are exquisite. It doesn't matter what religious tradition the reader practices -- this is a story for everyone.

A Christmas tale about the power of miracles

Review Date: 2005-02-13
Award-winning author and illustrator team Rudolfo Anaya and Amy Cordova present The Santero's Miracle: A Bilingual Story, an English/Spanish Christmas tale about the power of miracles. Don Jacobo is teaching his visiting grandson Andres how to become a santero; the two of them are working on a carving of San Isidro, the patron saint of farmers. Due to the great snowfall, Andres' parents cannot come home in time for the holiday, and don Jacobo's neighbor, don Leopoldo, is severely ill but cannot reach the hospital. Then don Jacobo dreams of a miracle: San Isidro plowing with two oxen and and an angel helping. The meaning of the dream brings about a reminder of the power of compassion, faith, and love. The bright color illustrations practically leap off the page in this joyful and uplifting story meant to be shared.

A truly lovely and entertaining holiday picture book story

Review Date: 2002-12-14
Written and illustrated by John Henson, Sarah Lynn's Christmas Present is a thoroughly enjoyable Christmas season picture book, enhanced with appealing cartoon-like figures drawn in full color. Sarah Lynn is a young girl who wants a doll for Christmas -- so when she sees her mother come home with bags full of unappealing stuffed bears, she fears the worst for her Christmas present! Sarah Lynn's Christmas Present is highly recommended as being a truly lovely and entertaining holiday picture book story about learning not to make snap judgments and automatic assumptions.

My kids loved this book

Review Date: 2002-12-10
I bought this book for my kids and they absolutely love it. Since having it, they have fought over who gets to read from it and draw the pictures first after school! I found the book to be very witty and exeptionally funny. The fact that Sara Lynn NOT ONLY dreams in color, but in CRAYON was a brilliant touch! My oldest still prefers THE GRINCH, but Sarah Lynn's Christmas Present has great company on the shelf with the rest of our Christmas classics. We hope to see more of Sarah Lynn very soon!OH! We have one suggestion: that her brothers name be Matty!
